Gravitational Waves
They are invisible ripples formed when
1. A star explodes in a supernova.
2. Two big stars orbit each other.
3. Two black holes merge.
- They travel at the speed of light and squeeze and stretch anything in their path.
- Proposed by Albert Einstein in his General Theory of Relativity, over a century ago. But the first gravitational wave was actually detected by LIGO only in 2015.

Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2020
- It seeks to make significant changes to the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA).
Features- the Bill
1. prohibits ‘public servants’ from receiving any foreign funding.
2. reduces the use of foreign funds to meet administrative costs by NGOs from the existing 50 per cent to 20 per cent.
3. prohibits any transfer of foreign contribution to any association/person.
4. makes Aadhaar cards mandatory for all office-bearers, of NGOs or associations eligible to receive foreign donations.
5. allows the central government to hold a summary inquiry to “not utilise the unutilised foreign contribution or receive the remaining portion of foreign contribution”.

Essential Commodities (Amendment) Bill, 2020.

Recently, the Parliament passed the bill.
It replaces an Ordinance promulgated in June 2020 and amends the Essential Commodities Act (ECA), 1955.

- Aims to remove fears of private investors of excessive regulatory interference in their business operations.
