COMING SOON | GS–4 ETHICS — PROJECT ARJUNA
Ethics is the only paper in UPSC where
everyone knows the syllabus
yet very few score consistently.
Why?
Because Ethics today is mostly taught in a conventional, lifeless manner:
• Definitions are memorised
• Thinkers are quoted mechanically
• Case studies are solved like mathematics
• Morality is confused with preaching
But administration is not theoretical.
And Ethics is not a textbook subject.
In real life, a civil servant does not get:
• Four options neatly written
• Unlimited time
• Clear right vs wrong
They get pressure, conflict, power, fear, and consequences.
And this is where most Ethics teaching fails.
THE PROJECT ARJUNA APPROACH
In Project Arjuna, Ethics will be taught using what I call a
Bollywood-style pedagogy.
Not for entertainment —
but because stories are how human judgement is formed.
We will use:
• Situations, not sermons
• Characters, not caricatures
• Conflict, not convenience
• Consequences, not conclusions
Just like cinema:
• Every decision has a cost
• Every choice reveals character
• Silence can be ethical
• Compromise can be moral
• Idealism can be dangerous
Ethics will be taught the way it exists in real administration —
messy, layered, emotional, constrained, human.
WHAT THIS MODULE IS ABOUT
This upcoming Ethics module will focus on:
• Training judgement, not mug-up
• Teaching how to think before how to write
• Developing an ethical voice that sounds calm, mature and administrative
• Understanding why a decision is ethical — not just what is ethical
This is not an Ethics course to decorate answers.
This is an Ethics course to build authority in answers.
“In Kurukshetra, Arjuna did not lack weapons.
He lacked clarity.”
Ethics is that clarity.
GS–4 Ethics Module — launching soon.
Details will follow.
