Dh100-200 scams in UAE: Why more residents fall victim to βmicro frauds'
Micro frauds on social media are becoming more common as scammers move away from large-scale frauds to smaller scams. Many are increasingly using generative AI to make these scams look more realistic and appear linked to trusted brands. Cybersecurity experts say that micro fraud became very effective because small amounts may not feel risky to consumers in the UAE.
Some UAE residents shared their experiences, saying that they were targeted through social media, where they were approached to click and pay for goods and services that were of a small amount, in some cases, less than Dh100 or Dh200. Upon verification, it was found that the links for payments were fake.

Dubai Metro Blue Line construction: Traffic diversions announced near International City 1
Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced a new traffic diversion in the direction of International City 1, coinciding with the construction works for the Dubai Metro Blue Line. As part of the second stage of construction, the entrance from Ras Al Khor Road into International City 1 has been closed. Motorists are urged to use the alternative road and parallel access road to reach their destinations.
These diversions are part of the ongoing development of the Dubai Metro Blue Line, with the new station scheduled to open in 2029. The 30km metro line is set to reshape mobility across nine key districts of the city and connect areas expected to be home to more than one million residents. The Blue Line will feature 14 stations, including a world-record-setting structure: the Emaar Properties Station β soon to be the highest metro station in the world at 74 metres tall.

Abu Dhabi rolls out driverless vehicles to clean, sanitise its corniche
Abu Dhabi has taken a further step in its efforts to expand the use of autonomous mobility as a fleet of driverless sweepers was rolled out to clean the emirate's long corniche.
Earlier this month, robotaxis completed 30,000 trips in Abu Dhabi, which operates 44 of these autonomous vehicles across Yas Island, Saadiyat, and Masdar City. The service later expanded to Al Reem and Al Maryah Islands, tripling the fleet in just 12 months. Beside robotaxis, Abu Dhabi residents and visitors can now expect to see driverless vehicles, dubbed RoboSweepers, sweeping the corniche to clean and sanitise without any human intervention.

UAE: Free mobile remittance app 'temporarily' halts operation, expats surprised
A mobile remittance app that offers fast and free money transfers from the UAE to different parts of the world has temporarily paused operation, citing system upgrade as the reason for discontinuing services.
Taptap Send, described as an international peer-to-peer remittance company, has not been working for almost a week now β expats who are regular users of the remittance app informed Khaleej Times. The timing is bad, they said, as payday is near and expats are again preparing to send a part of their salary to their families and loved ones back home.
