🌐 Fed’s ISO ‘big bang’ hits next week

🔹 Fedwire Funds Service will officially adopt the ISO 20022 messaging standard on Monday, July 14, 2025. This marks a “big bang” conversion—a full-scale, non-gradual shift for trillions in daily payments. ISO 20022 is a global standard developed over 20 years ago to modernize financial messaging. Already adopted by 70+ countries, it enhances data sharing, operational efficiency, and cross-border compatibility. The Fed’s move aligns U.S. payments with international systems like SWIFT and FedNow.

🔹 Key Benefits include richer data per transaction (e.g., invoices, shipment details). Improved fraud detection and reporting capabilities and enhanced interoperability for cross-border payments, especially in USD. Experts like Elias Ghanem (Capgemini) and Booshan Rengachari (Finzly) emphasize the strategic importance of harmonizing payment rails and data formats. Finzly and Finastra have been preparing clients extensively, with contingency plans in place for launch day.

🔹 Most major U.S. banks are ready, but some smaller institutions may still rely on vendors for compliance. While minor hiccups are possible, no major disruptions are expected. Vendors and banks are on “all hands on deck” alert for July 14. The transition is seen as a milestone for global payments modernization, with some industry leaders even planning celebrations once it’s complete.

➡️ "Global payments are “deep and complex,” said Ghanem, who formerly worked for Visa and PayPal Holdings.“It is essential that we all speak the same language. We harmonize the data. We harmonize the rails.”

➡️ "The new standard will be particularly important for banks and credit unions seeking to send cross-border payments because many foreign financial counterparts already use the standard. The Fedwire channel handles some $4.7 trillion in worldwide commerce every day, with international commerce mainly conducted in U.S. dollars."

➡️ Fedwire is a real-time gross settlement (RTGS) system operated by the U.S. Federal Reserve Banks. Its core purpose is to facilitate immediate, final, and irrevocable electronic funds transfers in U.S. dollars between participating institutions. Used for large, same-day transactions by banks, businesses, and government agencies. Direct access to Fedwire is limited to U.S.-based institutions or foreign banks with a U.S. branch or agency that holds a master account at a Federal Reserve Bank. Foreign banks without U.S. branches cannot directly use Fedwire, but they can route U.S. dollar payments through correspondent banks in the U.S. that are Fedwire participants. Fedwire does not support foreign currency transfers directly. Fedwire is not globally accessible in the same way SWIFT is, but it plays a critical role in the U.S. leg of international USD transactions. It’s especially relevant for cross-border commerce where the dollar is the settlement currency. Fedwire is essentially the backbone of the U.S. wholesale payment system, processing trillions of dollars daily.

Trump just said: “a guy who never dies, Jeffrey Epstein”
And I immediately remembered what Megyn Kelly said a few months ago:

“I can’t tell you how I know, but I can tell you for a fact we’re gonna hear a lot more about Jeffrey Epstein in the coming year, and you may be even hearing from him directly.”

State Department Is Firing More Than 1,300 Staff Today

More than 1,300 employees at the U.S. State Department will be laid off Friday under a bold restructuring plan backed by President Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, according to an internal memo obtained by the Associated Press.
The move targets bloated bureaucracies, duplicative agencies, and left-wing pet projects, marking one of the largest staff cuts in the department’s history.

White House Releases Statement on Bondi, Bongino Clash Over Handling of Epstein Files

The White House released a statement on the Bondi, Bongino clash on Friday afternoon.
Earlier Friday it was reportedthat FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino took a day off from work after a clash with Attorney General Pam Bondi over the handling of the Epstein files.
The blowup between Bondi and Bongino happened after the FBI, DOJ released a 2-page memo on Sunday concluding Jeffrey Epstein did not have a “client list” and that he committed suicide.

Imagine that. The deep state used to get away with this without thinking. Now they’re constantly being exposed. It is a beautiful thing.

Tulsi Gabbard says there is a war with the deep state going on, sees the base on X asking "why aren't things going faster?"

"I can attest personally that in my work as the Director of National Intelligence, the deep state is fighting us every step of the way."

"You think the campaign was hard, you think what President Trump went through was hard? And it was - the road ahead will not be easy."

"And it exists within every single federal agency. And so I feel the same frustration that I see many of you expressing on X or in different platforms about, Why aren't things going faster? Why aren't we getting results more quickly?"

"I feel this frustration every single day. We are pushing hard. Know that they are pushing hard back."
