Bullet repayment on 8lends
Let's imagine a $10,000 loan for 12 months at 22% per annum.
βοΈ The difference is $2,200 vs. $1,191.67 at the same stated rate of 22%.
So, the reason our platform sticks to bullet repayments is that a borrower on 8lends is a real business that borrows money for a specific operational purpose. Such a business repays the principal from the revenue generated by that cycle, rather than paying it back in equal installments from the first month, when the money hasn't yet been earned.
β
At the same time, this is more beneficial for investors because 100% of the principal remains invested for the entire 12 months, rather than an average of around 54% with amortization.
With amortization, the principal comes back in installments and has to be redeployed if you want to keep earning on the full amount.
Let's imagine a $10,000 loan for 12 months at 22% per annum.
π Bullet repayment: the principal stays the same throughout the entire term, while the interest is calculated based on the full principal every month.
Example: $10,000 Γ 22% Γ· 12 = $183.33 per month. At the end of the term, that's $2,200 in interest + the full $10,000 principal.π Let's compare it with amortization (like a consumer loan, which 8lends doesn't have). The principal is repaid in equal installments of $833.33 per month, and the interest is recalculated each month based on the remaining balance, which decreases along with the principal.
As a result, in the first month, the interest is $183.33; in the last month, only $15.28. The total interest for the entire 12 months is $1,191.67.

Banks print money out of thin air.
The Bank of England proved this statement right.
π€© In 2014, the Bank of England officially published a document that shattered a common misconception about banks: they don't take money from clients' savings, but create it when they issue a loan.
And there are a lot of things that stop banks from continuing to print more money: the central bank interest rate, bank capital requirements, the availability of profitable lending opportunities, and the broader monetary policy framework.

The Bank of England proved this statement right.
Approximately 97% of UK money is held as electronic bank deposits (created through commercial lending) rather than physical cash.
In the UK, the central bank has no formal reserve requirements. In the US, reserve requirements were reduced to zero in March 2020 as a COVID-19 emergency measure.

If you're struggling with creating a crypto wallet, we can create one for you. If you don't want to buy USDC on a crypto exchange before investing on 8lends, we've added a feature that lets you invest with a bank transfer.
Let us sum it up for you:
π About a crypto wallet:
You can sign up in two ways: via Privy or via Maclear.
If you choose Privy, you can continue with Google, email, or by connecting a wallet, and we'll create a crypto wallet for you, powered by Privy. So there's no need to bother creating a crypto wallet if you don't want to waste time on it. But if you already have one, you can still sign up with your own wallet.
If you sign up through Maclear, you'll also receive a crypto wallet automatically.
β¨ About investing with a bank transfer:
This is possible thanks to MoonPay. It's a licensed platform in Europe with a CASP license for crypto-to-fiat transactions. Before your first fiat deposit, you'll need to complete KYC on MoonPay. This is separate from the KYC verification you complete on 8lends.
Once you invest, your funds are automatically converted to USDC and added to your balance.βοΈ The service fee is 5%.
We're working hard to add more features and opportunities for you!
So we won't stop here and will keep cooking something nice.
And back to Privy and MoonPayβwhich of these features solves your pain with crypto and do you like the most?

We promised $1,000 to the person who came closest to guessing the exact date and time when the 8lends dashboard would show $20,000,000 in funded loans.
We hit the milestone today, 26.08.2026, at 16:39 CET.
The closest guess came from @gonxoventanilla β 27.08.2026, 18:45 CET.
The winning guess was just over a day away from the actual time, making it the closest of all the entries.
Missed this one? Donβt worry β more giveaways are coming, so stay tuned.
And if you havenβt invested with 8lends yet, $20,000,000 in loans have already been funded through the platform. Maybe itβs time to see it from the inside.

"The rates are too high to be sustainable for the platform."
We've received this question from one of our investors recently. And it got us thinking that many of you might think the same way. The reason may be that we haven't covered this exact question in more detail yet.
So, let's fix that!
π€© 8lends doesn't make money from the difference between the rate the borrower pays and the rate the investor receives, like a traditional bank.
The investor receives the entire loan rate, 19β25% per annum, without a single commission.
βοΈ The platform's income is a separate commission we charge the borrower (~3% of the pool amount), which the borrower pays the platform for arranging the financing.
So, 8lends' income doesn't depend on the investor's interest rate and doesn't become less sustainable if the rate is high. It depends on the volume of funding raised.
Maclear AG, in this chain, doesn't make money from the interest rate at all. Its income comes from a different source: due diligence and business audits, not from investor or borrower interest. But that's another topic for discussion.
β¨ Also, keep in mind that 8lends is a young platform, launched in March 2025, and the current APR range of 19β25% is part of the growth strategy that helps attract more investors at the start.
As the platform grows, rates are not guaranteed to remain at this level. It's worth taking advantage of the current terms now, rather than putting it off in the hopes that they will always remain the same.

So, 8lends' income doesn't depend on the investor's interest rate and doesn't become less sustainable if the rate is high. It depends on the volume of funding raised.
βοΈ Now the second question: borrower sustainability. And it's fair. A rate of 19β25% is high compared to a bank loan. But this isn't an arbitrary figure; it's a consequence of the rating.
Each borrower undergoes due diligence and receives a credit rating from AAA to CCC, and the rate is tied to this risk profile.π€ Why would a borrower agree to such a rate if a bank offers a lower rate? Because for many of these borrowers, the bank doesn't offer a rate at all. The speed of access to financing, the absence of collateral requirements, and accessibility for businesses without a long credit history help close this gap.

How 80% LLTV protects your money in Cryptolending
LLTV is the level at which the platform closes a borrower's position to protect investor capital before the loss reaches the pool.
π€© On 8lends, this level is fixed at 80%.
Here's an example:
What happens when the price drops:
Why 80% and not higher?
Why not lower the level, for example to 50%?
π€© See it live and try it yourself: app.8lends.io/lend
LLTV is the level at which the platform closes a borrower's position to protect investor capital before the loss reaches the pool.
Here's an example:
A borrower provides $10,000 in BTC and takes out a USDC loan.
With an 80% LLTV, the maximum loan amount is $8,000.
The debt-to-collateral (LTV) ratio at the time of disbursement is below the ceiling, usually closer to 60β70% to allow for price movement.
What happens when the price drops:
If BTC dips and the value of the collateral drops to the point where the current debt is 80% of the new value of the collateral, the platform sells some or all of the collateral, closes the debt, and returns USDC to the pool for investors.
This happens before the collateral no longer covers the loan.
Why 80% and not higher?
A higher level, for example 95%, would give the borrower more flexibility over the loan amount, but would sharply limit the volatility buffer.
BTC and ETH can lose 10β15% in a single day. With an LLTV of 95%, such a drop almost immediately pushes the position beyond the
level where the debt is no longer fully covered by the collateral, leaving the platform no time to sell the asset without incurring a loss for the pool.
Why not lower the level, for example to 50%?
Such a level would be overly conservative: the borrower would only be able to borrow half the value of the collateral, which dramatically reduces the capital efficiency of crypto lending and makes it less attractive to large BTC and ETH holders.
80% is a balance between how much the borrower can borrow against the collateral and how much time and price space the system has to react before the loss affects the investor's capital.

Answering 2 important questions from our post: "Why Are Our Rates So High"
We recently published a post about why 8lends' rates are so high We received two important questions from investors, and we want to answer them here in detail.
1. The fee charged to the borrower, calculated on the amount raised, is about 3%, while investor bonuses can go up to 6%. The difference is negative, so how is the platform sustainable?
2. Maclear AG's role in this model
For transparency, we're attaching Alpha Systems LLC's profit and loss statement for 2025.
The report shows a net loss for the year, and we want to be honest about it: the loss doesn't come only from investor bonuses. It comes from a full range of items, including legal and compliance costs, contractor wages, IT infrastructure, and amortization of capitalized costs for smart contract audits and platform development.
π€© If you still have questions, leave them in the comments. We'll pick the most important ones and answer in a new post.
The answer is simple: at this stage, the platform doesn't need to be profitable. It needs to be attractive to the first wave of investors.
8lends launched in March 2025. Like almost any business in its early stage, a portion of its resources goes toward growing the audience and building trust in the platform rather than toward profit, including through bonus mechanics for investors. Traditional businesses often take five years or more to become profitable, and operating at a loss in the first years is considered normal there, not a red flag.
This isn't a permanent model. As the platform grows, the bonus mechanics will be reviewed and reduced, and the economics will shift from acquisition toward sustainable profitability.
2. Maclear AG's role in this model
Maclear AG acts as Collateral Agent for 8lends: it monitors the collateral on loans and conducts independent due diligence on borrowers.
The team and part of the leadership at Maclear and 8lends have historically overlapped, but over time the areas of responsibility were legally separated between the two companies.
Maclear's income comes from two distinct sources. The first is a commission on the funding volume of Maclear's own projects, unrelated to 8lends. The second is payment for auditing and due diligence on borrowers who go through our platform, and this includes payment for Maclear's work on 8lends projects specifically. Both costs are paid by the borrower as part of the cost of raising financing. The investor doesn't bear these costs, and their returns aren't affected by them.
For transparency, we're attaching Alpha Systems LLC's profit and loss statement for 2025.
