What is collateral actually worth?
When it comes to protection, just saying the collateral is worth $1M isn't enough, of course.
βοΈ If a borrower defaults, what the business paid for an asset or what itβs worth on the books doesnβt really matter. What matters is how much we can get by selling it.
Thatβs why we look at the asset type, its condition, liquidity, the secondary market, and how much we might have to discount the price to sell it. The details depend on the business and the type of collateral it provides.
For some projects, we also estimate a more conservative liquidation value.
So, the most important thing for us is how much money the asset could bring back to investors if the businessβs main cash flow dries up.
βοΈ Do you check the LTV before investing? What LTV feels acceptable to you, and at what point would you walk away?
π Share some of your secret tactics in the comments!

For some projects, we also estimate a more conservative liquidation value.
Next, we look at the LTV (Loan-to-Value) ratio. It shows how large the loan is compared to the value of the collateral.
For example, if the loan is $400,000 and the collateral is valued at $650,000, the LTV is approximately 62%.
The lower the LTV, the bigger the gap between the loan amount and the collateralβs value.
But LTV alone doesnβt guarantee repayment. We also check whether we can seize and sell the asset, whether anyone else has a claim on it, and how much we might recover in the worst-case scenario.
So, the most important thing for us is how much money the asset could bring back to investors if the businessβs main cash flow dries up.

For many businesses, the problem isn't that they can't get a loan. They just need capital as soon as possible, often for a specific purpose that doesn't fit rigid banking criteria.
Banks evaluate companies based on a strict set of criteria: credit history, financial reports, time in business, type of collateral, and internal lending limits. Even a strong business might get rejected just because it doesn't fit the bank's criteria.
8lends works differently. We focus on these things:
π Why does the business need the capital?π How will it use the funds?π What cash flow will it use to repay the loan?π What collateral can it provide?π Can the business generate enough cash flow to repay the debt?
Then there's the matter of speed.
Businesses often need financing for specific purposes: buying equipment, increasing inventory, fulfilling a contract, expanding production, and more. If the loan approval process takes too long, the opportunity might disappear.
In this sense, crowdlending can be more flexible than bank loans.
That doesn't mean our requirements are any less strict. We just focus on a few key things: protecting investors' money, how the business plans to make a profit from the funds it raises, and whether its collateral can cover investors' losses in case of default.
If you had a business, what would you choose: funding from 8lends or a bank loan? Share your thoughts!

We talked about how we solve the banking problems small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) face every day.
People don't talk about this enough. That's why we attended this event: to bring more attention to the problem and share how we at 8lends are solving it.
Our approach benefits everyone: SMEs looking for relatively fast funding and people who want to earn a steady APR on their money.
Feel free to listen to what our CCO, Ivan Marchena, had to say in the interview!

Where do businesses get the money to pay 20%?
At first, it might seem odd: why would a sound business borrow at 20%+ when banks exist?
But think about this:
If a company raises $100,000 and is expected to repay, say, $120,000 a year later, the question is: how much profit will that $100,000 help it generate?
For instance, a business mightπ
If that additional $100,000 helps a business generate $40,000β$50,000 in extra profit, then paying $20,000 to generate that profit makes sense.
β
Therefore, a high interest rate doesn't necessarily mean that a company is bad or desperate. On the contrary, it might have a really smart plan to use the money.
Still, a good borrower should be able to clearly explain where the additional cash flow will come from, how stable it is, and what happens if things don't go as planned.
That's why the interest rate shouldn't be your main concern.
π€© What about you? What do you look at before investing in a project on 8lends?

If a company raises $100,000 and is expected to repay, say, $120,000 a year later, the question is: how much profit will that $100,000 help it generate?
For instance, a business might
π purchase inventory, sell it at a high margin, and turn over that capital several times within a year;π acquire equipment that immediately boosts production capacity;π fulfill a large contract for which it currently lacks sufficient working capital;π buy raw materials at a discount, earning more from the price difference than the cost of financing.

Here's your principal! But... what's next?
When a business repays its loan, you finally receive your principal back. But you stop earning interest from that business, too. If you want to keep generating income, you need to choose a new project to invest in.
If your portfolio consists of 4--6 projects with different terms and repayment schedules, you have to keep track of repayments, look for new opportunities, and reinvest the money that comes back.
Meanwhile, while your money sits in your wallet, it literally generates nothing.
How will it work?
You'll need to turn the feature on manually and set two options:
Once you've set everything up, you can include your existing investments, too. As loans get repaid, the returned principal goes into your auto-reinvestment balance. The platform then automatically allocates it across new, available projects.
What exactly is it for?
Instead of constantly checking incoming payments and manually choosing the next project to invest in, you can automate the process and spend less time monitoring everything.
The platform automatically selects projects from those currently available. The minimum amount for a single automated investment is 100 USDC. If you have a small amount to invest, your actual share in a single project may exceed the percentage limit you've set.
Do you need this?
Your actual return depends not only on the interest rates of individual loans but also on how efficiently you reinvest your money throughout the investment cycle.
Even if every project delivers the expected return, long gaps between one loan being repaid and your next investment can reduce your overall returns.
π€ So, how does it sound? Would you give this feature a try, or would you prefer to manage your investments manually?

How will it work?
You'll need to turn the feature on manually and set two options:
π The maximum portion of your money you want to allocate to a single project.π What you want to do with your interest: reinvest it, withdraw it to your wallet, or allocate it to crypto-lending.

Instead of constantly checking incoming payments and manually choosing the next project to invest in, you can automate the process and spend less time monitoring everything.
You're still in control of your money, though. You can pause automatic reinvestment, withdraw available USDC at any time, or list your existing positions on the secondary market if you need to exit early.

Auto-reinvestment doesn't guarantee that your money will always be invested. That still depends on whether suitable projects are available. But it means you won't have to manually reinvest your money every time.
We just want to help you spend less time on operational tasks and focus more on your investment strategy.

How do businesses receive your USDC?
You invest USDC in a specific business, and the transactions go through a smart contract on Base.
You and anyone else can open a project page, scroll down, and check the transaction history.

We're launching Easy Start! It's a special project for new users that lets you go through a full investment cycle with just 97 USDC in six days and receive 4 USDC in returns.
How does it work?
You lend 97 USDC to 8lends and receive:π 2 USDC on day 3π 2 USDC and your original 97 USDC back on day 6
If all obligations are met, you'll receive 101 USDC in total.
The process is the same as with other projects on the platform: you fund a borrower, follow the repayment schedule, and receive your payouts.
Where does the 4 USDC return come from?
As you might have guessed, 8lends itself is the borrower. We pay the interest from the budget we've set aside for onboarding new investors.
Basically, instead of spending our entire marketing budget on ads, we're giving part of it to new investors so you can try the platform for just 6 days before making any long-term investments in other projects.
What about security?
The borrower is CLEARCHAIN CORP. (the company behind 8lends), which maintains a stated liquidity reserve of $1 million.
Still, a reserve doesn't mean there's no credit risk.
Once you complete Easy Start, you can choose another project on 8lends and receive an additional 30 USDC bonus. To qualify, you'll need to make an investment within 14 days after completing Easy Start and meet the program requirements.

8LNDS now has its own buyback price
We've set up a dedicated USDC reserve for the token. We'll put part of our platform's proceeds into this reserve to help it grow.
We planned to pay out all vested tokens at 70% of the token's launch price.
But investors in our chat asked us to raise the price.π€© So, you asked, and we're delivering: we'll pay out all vested tokens in USDC at 85% of the token's launch price, or β 0.014518 USDC per token*
*The price is based on the token's 3-day TWAP of β 0.01708 USDC for October 27β29, 2026
We hear you, and every voice counts. Each of you can make a real impact by sharing your thoughts and discussing things with us in the chat.
What exactly is changing?
Previously, investors received 8LNDS as cashback on their investments. The tokens vested over 40 weeks, and their market price was determined by trading on Uniswap.
We're moving away from exchange prices. Instead of relying on Uniswap, we'll set the buyback price directly on the 8lends platform. We'll use the USDC reserve to buy back 8LNDS from holders.
How the buyback price works
We'll add a percentage of the fees from new investments to the USDC reserve. As 8lends grows, these contributions can grow too.
We calculate the buyback price using this formula:
We sell new tokens at a price higher than the current buyback price. The difference goes into the reserve, adding more USDC to back the tokens users hold.
Every new token we sell brings more USDC into the reserve.
When a holder sells their tokens back to 8lends, we pay them from the reserve and remove those tokens from circulation. This doesn't lower the buyback price for the remaining holders.
Think of it as a pool of USDC. Each token represents a share of the money in the pool, and we add more USDC as we sell new tokens.
What happens to your current 8LNDS?
We'll pay out the dollar value of the tokens remaining in your vesting schedule according to the original timeline. The exchange rate was fixed on the announcement date.
You can still claim any tokens that have already vested but that you haven't claimed yet.
You'll have a 20β30-day transition window to decide what to do with the 8LNDS in your wallet. During this time, you can either sell them back to 8lends at the fixed rate or keep them. If you keep them, the new tokenomics will apply, including the new buyback price.
That's another big update we've brought you this year. So far, we've:
Most of our updates have the same goal: to help protect your money while helping real businesses grow on convenient terms.
How do you feel about this update?
β€οΈ β Looking forward to the new tokenomics
