Innovation comes from following a path that nobody has yet taken. From becoming Singapore’s first digital advisor for CPF, SRS & Cash, to launching Hong Kong’s first independent wealth and fund platform — we will continue to chart a new course in this industry, fundamentally changing the way wealth services have traditionally been provided to individual investors.

At Endowus, Thursdays are also sometimes known as "Thirst-days", where we come together as one team to catch up over good food and drink. Throwing it back to our latest #thirstday in Singapore, and the inaugural session in our Hong Kong office! What better way to kick things off than with the perennial favourites — bubble tea and pizza? #LifeinEndowus
Last week on Bloomberg Markets Asia, Endowus Chairman and CIO, Samuel Rhee, discussed China's latest trade data and the impact of slow credit growth on the stock markets.
He highlighted that demand remains anaemic, despite initially high expectations with China’s COVID restrictions lifting. Comparatively, the US is the most robust market globally and while earnings are down, forecasters expect the economy to avert the downturn once viewed as inevitable.
What does this mean for investors?
➡️ Cheap valuations alone are not a catalyst to buy China; fundamental reforms are needed to address underlying structural problems of high indebtedness and misallocation of capital.
➡️ With global interest rates peaking, we are positioning for a decent fixed income market in the next 12-18 months.
➡️ People are generally underweight equities and continue to buy the dips, but investors should hold fast to long-term goals and remain in financial markets.

It’s a time of uncertainty in the second half of 2023. While inflation is cooling, central banks are concerned that it is not coming down as quickly as it should. This leaves investors guessing about the rate hike cycle ahead.

The Endowus Flagship and Income Portfolios outpaced their benchmarks last month, while all three Cash Smart solutions continued to generate positive returns. The ESG Equity Portfolio lagged the broader equity market, partly due to its lack of exposure to the energy sector.

Are individual stocks or equity funds more suitable for you? Buying shares of a specific company gives you full control of your investments, but makes it harder to diversify your portfolio and could subject you to more risk.
Equity funds such as unit trusts and ETFs allow for greater diversification, while helping you avoid emotional buying and selling whenever the market fluctuates.
