Hey-hey! In just a few hours we'll start our discussion, so get your English skills ready! Here's a few words and useful phrases to warm you up:

1. Burnout: extreme mental and physical exhaustion caused by prolonged stress or overwork. (Many employees experience burnout after working long hours for months.)
2. To switch off: to stop thinking about work and allow yourself to relax. (I find it difficult to switch off after a busy day.)
3. To unwind: to relax and recover from stress or tension. (I usually unwind by reading a book in the evening.)
4. To recharge your batteries: to regain energy and strength through rest or enjoyable activities. (A weekend in the countryside helps me recharge my batteries.)
5. To make time for: to deliberately find or reserve time for a particular activity or person. (You need to make time for family and friends.)
6. Quality time: time spent with someone in a meaningful and enjoyable way. (Parents often wish they could spend more quality time with their children.)
7. To be on call: to be available to work or respond to emergencies when needed. (Doctors are often on call during weekends.)
8. To juggle: to manage several tasks, responsibilities, or commitments at the same time. (Many parents juggle work and childcare responsibilities.)
9. To draw the line: to establish a limit on what you are willing to do or accept. (I draw the line at answering work emails after 9 p.m.)
10. To strike a balance: to achieve a healthy compromise between different priorities or aspects of life. (The challenge is to strike a balance between career and personal life.)

I was so immersed into your summer stories last Sunday that I forgot to take a video of a few of us who stayed inside the cafe πŸ˜… You all guys are awesome as always, thank you for coming! The atmosphere of fun and joy that we have during our talks is the thing I enjoy the most :)

I will make an important announcement and a poll in an hour. Please, if you visit us frequently, I'd like to ask you to take part in it. Let's shape the future of our club together 😌

As some of you know, The Most Coffee's representative approached me during our last meeting and expressed some concerns - although we bring them money by buying their delicious drinks and desserts, we may be a little too loud for some visitors (and may scare people off? 🫒). That's why I was asked to move our meetings to an earlier time slot, from 10:00 till 12:00. In exchange our club members will have 10% discount on drinks and bakery - and the music volume will be comfortable for us.

I know that many, if not all of us, want to sleep more on Sundays and have some other things to do during Sunday mornings, so if coming earlier isn't an option for you, please vote accordingly and I will try looking for a new place for us (if you have some ideas of a possible place, please share them!!!)

Have you ever completely misjudged someone when you first met them? πŸ€” This Sunday at our speaking club we’ll explore why we judge people in seconds and whether those judgments deserve our trust. Prepare yourself for a nice English talk!

So far I'm keeping The Most Coffee and 10am-12pm as our place and time for this particular meeting. The poll is still open until tomorrow, 10:00 AM, but the results are showing that the majority is okay with moving our meetings to the earlier time. If you disagree, you still have a few hours to express your opinion!

Please, remember to sign up and pay for your attendance before this Saturday morning (10 AM the latest). We need to get at least 3 payments by then - otherwise the event will be canceled. Let's respect each other and make it an enjoyable process from A to Z 😌

Good morning everyone! We're starting up in less than 3 hours! I have come up with a list of useful words and expressions you can use today:

1. To hit it off: to immediately get along well with someone (We hit it off the moment we started talking.)
2. To size someone up: to quickly form an opinion about a person (People often size each other up within seconds of meeting.)
3. To come across as: to seem or appear in a particular way (He came across as confident and friendly.)
4. Bias: an unfair preference or tendency that affects decisions (Our biases can influence how we see strangers.)
5. Gut feeling: an instinctive reaction without conscious reasoning (My gut feeling told me I could trust her.)
6. To warm up to someone: to gradually start liking or trusting someone (It took me a while to warm up to my new colleague.)
7. To give someone the benefit of the doubt: to assume someone's intentions are good despite uncertainty (I try to give people the benefit of the doubt.)
8. To judge a book by its cover: to form an opinion based only on appearance (You shouldn't judge a book by its cover.)
9. To leave a lasting impression: to be remembered for a long time (His kindness left a lasting impression on everyone.)
10. To break the ice: to make people feel more comfortable in a new social situation (A funny question helped break the ice.)

Don't forget to bring your good vibes!
See you very soon,
Andrei

Thanks for coming today, guys, you rock! πŸ’ͺ This morning our desire to speak foreign languages turned out to be greater than our need for sleep πŸ˜… Or - at least for some of us. I'm glad we had a warm chat on the things we first notice in others and the things we want to be first noticed in ourselves ☺️ I was also happy to see some people stayed overtime just to talk off-topic. All of it creates a special feeling of community we aim to achieve here 😌

I will run a poll to understand if the new time slot was comfortable for you.

Please, also vote if you wanted but couldn't join.
