πŸ”Ή 1. Change the Screw Channel Angle

What it does:
By default, ExoCad doesn’t allow you to freely adjust the screw channel angle of implant restorations. With this trick, you can enable it.

How to do it:

1️⃣ Right-click on the ExoCad shortcut β†’ choose Open file location.
2️⃣ Go to: ExoCad β†’ DentalCADApp β†’ config.
3️⃣ Find the file named defaultsettings.
4️⃣ Open it with Notepad.
5️⃣ After the line <HideHelpButton>false</HideHelpButton> add these two lines:

<ImplantLibraryAllowScrewChannelAngles>true</ImplantLibraryAllowScrewChannelAngles>
<ImplantLibraryAllowScrewChannelAnglesByUserDefault>true</
ImplantLibraryAllowScrewChannelAnglesByUserDefault>

6️⃣ Save and restart ExoCad.

βœ… Now you can change screw channel angles in your designs!

πŸ”Ή 2. Add Patient Name into Database Files

What it does:
Normally ExoCad saves projects using codes like date and case number. This makes it hard to recognize which file belongs to which patient. By editing one setting, you can show Patient First Name + Last Name directly in file names.

How to do it:

1️⃣ Go to ExoCad root folder β†’ DentalDb β†’ Config.
2️⃣ Find the file defaultsettings-db.xml.
3️⃣ Open it with Notepad.
4️⃣Look for:

<FilenameTemplate>%d_%n-%s</FilenameTemplate>
<PathTemplate>%d_%n-%s</PathTemplate>

5️⃣ Change the codes:

🟒 For Patient Name + Date β†’ %f_%l-%d
πŸ”΅ For Patient Name + Clinic β†’
%f_%l-%p

6️⃣ Save and restart the Dental DB.

βœ… From now on, projects will have meaningful names like John_Smith-2025 instead of random codes.

πŸ”Ή 3. Add a Tooth to an Existing Case

What it does:
Sometimes you create a case, but later realize another tooth must be added. Normally, you’d need to start over – but with this trick you can simply attach a new tooth.

How to do it:

1️⃣ Download the folder ADD_TOOTH (a library file).
2️⃣ Copy it into:
ExoCad β†’ DentalCADApp β†’ library β†’ attachments.
3️⃣ Inside ExoCad, choose the attachment ADD_TOOTH and select the tooth you
want.

βœ… Quick fix – no need to restart the project.

πŸ”Ή 4. Add New Functions to the Wizard Menu

What it does:
The β€œWizard” menu in ExoCad can be customized to include more tools that aren’t visible by default.

Functions you can add:

πŸ–± Correct Placement (move objects precisely)
πŸ–± Freeform Shaping
πŸ–± Add / Remove 3D Objects
πŸ–± Convert to Pontic
πŸ–± Launch Articulator

How to do it:

1️⃣ Go to: ExoCad β†’ DentalCADApp β†’ config.
2️⃣ Find contextmenu-wizard.xml.
3️⃣ Open with Notepad.
4️⃣ After the first two lines, paste this code:

<!-- Correct Placement -->
<DentalProcessorInfo>
<ProcessorType>DentalProcessors.CorrectPlacementProcessorNew</ProcessorType>
</DentalProcessorInfo>

<!-- Freeform Shaping -->
<DentalProcessorInfo>
<ProcessorType>DentalProcessors.FreeformProcessor</ProcessorType>
</DentalProcessorInfo>

<!-- Add/Remove 3D Object -->
<DentalProcessorInfo>
<ProcessorType>DentalProcessors.AddRemoveMeshProcessor</ProcessorType>
</DentalProcessorInfo>

<!-- Convert to Pontic -->
<DentalProcessorInfo>
<ProcessorType>DentalProcessors.ConvertLibraryModelToPonticProcessor</ProcessorType>
</DentalProcessorInfo>

<!-- Launch Articulator -->
<DentalProcessorInfo>
<ProcessorType>DentalProcessors.ArticulatorProcessor</ProcessorType>
</DentalProcessorInfo>

5️⃣ Save and restart ExoCad.

βœ… Now your Wizard has extra buttons for faster and smarter workflows.

STL of customized healing abutments

# Customized_Healing_Abutments

#Part 1

Purpose
- To guide soft tissue formation and create an ideal emergence profile.
- Especially useful in anterior areas or in deep/lingual implants.
- Improves esthetics and cleansability of the final restoration.

Materials and Options
- PEEK / PMMA / composite resin / titanium.
- Many implant systems provide Temporary/Provisional Abutments (PEEK/PMMA) for customized healing abutments.

General Protocol (chairside or lab)
1) Select temporary abutment according to platform, height, connection.
Adjust only within IFU limits.

2) Extraoral shaping (preferred)
- Mount abutment on analog.
- Shape with composite/acrylic freehand or using a mold system (e.g., Cervico).
- If intraoral adjustment is done, protect soft tissue with sterile rubber dam.

3) Sterilization
Many customized healing abutments are delivered non-sterile and must be sterilized before clinical use.

#Part 2

4) Insertion and Torque
- Place the customized healing abutment.
- Tighten with system-specific torque (example: Neodent Pro PEEK = 20 Ncm).

5) Healing Phase
- Monitor tissue contour for days/weeks.
- Adjust extraorally if needed.
- Do not leave longer than manufacturer’s maximum (often ≀6 months).

6) Transfer to Impression/Scan
- Use custom impression post or copy profile to impression coping.
- Mold-based systems like Cervico simplify this step.

Key Warnings from IFUs
- Do not change angulation, only adjust contour/height.
- Always isolate with sterile rubber dam when adjusting intraorally.
- Respect maximum duration of use.

Evidence
- Clinical studies show customized healing abutments (PEEK/titanium/composite) lead to stable peri-implant mucosa and favorable gingival contour.

Exocad 3.2 introduced some solid AI toolsβ€” πŸ‘‰
great for those just starting out.
πŸ˜ƒ

But with Exocad
3.3,
we’re talking about real-world, time-saving power
! 🍸

This latest update brings serious upgrades that actually move the needle in daily workflows. Here’s what stands out:

2️⃣ Tooth Placement + Symmetry Tools
We finally have true symmetry control for tooth placement. This is a game changer for speeding up esthetic setups and refining full arch cases.

2️⃣ Enhanced Morphing Tools
The morphing tools have been dialed up. Not only are they smoother, but symmetry has been added here tooβ€”making full arch adjustments more intuitive and efficient.

2️⃣ Implant Segmented Bars
Nearly one-click segmented bars for implants. This feature alone shaves off huge amounts of time for hybrid cases

Not to mention all the denture module upgrades
