Where: F0RTHSP4CE basement
Language: eng/rus
"The Art of Mixing" is a legendary video course, which briefly introduces all of the subject basics through visual representation of sound. It not only allows you to understand sound engineering, but comes as a psychoacoustic experience itself, constantly showing viewers trippy audiovisual examples of what is being said. Content have a great balance between humor and usefulness.
Also there will be a host, who will answer all of your questions and cover all unclear spots along the way for you to fully understand the topic.

HACK BASICS (theory + practice):
Writing a Lisp interpreter (PART 2)
When: Wednesday, May 3, 19:00
Languages: English or Russian
We continue our discovery of what programming and computation are in the essence. Previously we've successfully implemented a Turing machine emulator. However programs for the Turing machine do not look like programs in real languages. This time we'll implement an easily readable Lisp-like programming language able to work with numbers and strings.
What we'll learn and implement:
• Chomsky hierarchy of grammars (brief theory)
• Types of syntactic analysis (brief theory)
• Lexical analysis with a finite state machine
• Syntactic analysis with a simple recursive LL(1) parser
• S-expressions
• Garbage collection (optional)
• Lambda functions, closures
• "map", "filter", "reduce" and other typical higher-order functions
Bring a laptop with a compiler/interpreter of your choice.

Seminar: geometric
deep learning (RU)
Please work through the course materials at geometricdeeplearning.com prior to the seminar.
When: 07 May Sunday 14:00-16:00
Where: F0 main room
Our geometric party just keeps on going on and on!
We are working through an open access course on geometric deep learning — an area aiming to find new neural net designs informed by the symmetries in data. It is believed that these will learn better on solved problems (like image classification) and generalize to new domains like graphs and meshes.
Lecture 9
Chapter 4.4
We have a dedicated chat for the seminar. Do pop over with any questions.

brew your own ChatGPT
Please read the papers prior to the seminar.
Following a recent "leaked Google AI strategy memo", we are exploring if OpenAI and the gang really do have a moat — by following recent work in small large language models and cheap finetuning.
When: 12 May Friday 19:00-21:30
Where: F0 main room (free entrance, donations welcome)
Question of the day:
Do scientists agree that you can brew your own ChatGPT at home and finetune it as you wish on your laptop in an evening? Do you need a stolen LLaMA for that?
Papers of the day:
- Chinchilla, the progenitor of small large language models
- LoRA, a finetuning technique at 1/10000 the cost
- Commoditize your complement, a principle of tech economics
We’ll walk through each paper and collectively resolve any unclear spots as we do so. Then we’ll share our perspectives on the subject and figure our how the paper fits into our life.

tusa
When: 21 May Sunday 18:00-20:00
Where: F0 main room
A summer school on hacking, microelectronics design, programming language theory, machine learning and contemporary art is coming to Tbilisi this July.
We meet on Sunday to acquaint ourselves, sync up about courses content and move it towards our particular interests, do a vibe check, and get some kombucha and/or wine.
The event will include a potpourri of school lecturers, organizers, and participants (and a certain amount of tusa). If that's your first time hearing about the school, you are welcome to join as well to mingle and get a feel for what we plan for the summer.

So you invented a cool new algorithm! Low complexity, high power, atta boy! What's left is implementing it to scale.
Today's papers are about how initial research results get implemented by seasoned systems engineers.
When: 02 June Friday 19:00-21:30
Where: F0 main room (free entrance, donations welcome)
Question of the day:
How much progress in Computer Science happens due to algorithm improvement and how much is plain old CPUs getting faster? What are some cheap tricks I can use to make my code fast beyond the usual if I'm doing bespoke machine learning or novel algorithm design?
Papers of the day:

Difference between Priority and Severity of tasks/bugs plan
Get ready for an exciting lecture that will help you understand the difference between Priority and Severity when it comes to managing tasks and bugs. We'll start by defining Priority and Severity in product development and show you how to set Severity for bugs effectively. You'll also learn about the classic Priority/Severity matrix and discover how to create a customized matrix based on your product's unique features. We'll make it interactive by working together to create a Priority/Severity matrix for a sample project. By the end of the lecture, you'll have the knowledge and tools to prioritize tasks and bugs with confidence. Don't miss out on this informative session!
