π Day 2 β General English (A2βB2)
π PASSAGE β Read carefully!
Ben had always been a reserved (quiet, not sharing feelings easily) person. He rarely spoke in class and avoided any situation where he had to talk in front of others. But one day, his best friend persuaded (convinced someone through good reasons) him to join the school debate club. Ben was terrified. However, his teacher told him that the only way to grow was to confront (face a difficult situation directly) his fears instead of running away from them. On the day of his first debate, Ben stood up and spoke. When he finished, his classmates clapped β and he could see they were genuinely (truly, sincerely) impressed. That evening, Ben felt a deep sense of relief (comfort after something stressful ends). He had done it. And for the first time, he believed he could do it again.

π PASSAGE β Read carefully!
Over the past two decades, the number of people reading printed newspapers has seen a dramatic decline (a gradual decrease or reduction) across the globe. Many traditional media companies have been reluctant (unwilling, hesitant to act) to invest in digital platforms, fearing that the shift would damage their existing business models. Proponents (people who actively support an idea or plan) of digital journalism, however, argue that this transformation is inevitable (certain to happen, impossible to avoid) β and that resisting it only accelerates a company's collapse. The wider implication (a possible consequence or hidden meaning of an action) of this shift extends beyond business: it raises urgent questions about how societies access information, and whether quality journalism can survive in an age where content is expected to be free.
