πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ Pre-market trading trends on the US stock market

πŸ“‰ Negative sentiment is prevailing in the US stock market’s pre-market session. Among the largest companies, there is a noticeable decline in the share prices of key tech giants, setting a generally cautious tone.

In the Information Technology sector, Apple (AAPL) is down 1.17%, Intel (INTC) is down 1.45%, while Salesforce (CRM) is down 3.07%.

In the Communication Services sector, Alphabet (GOOGL) is down 0.33%.

In the Financials sector, Berkshire Hathaway (BRK.B) is up 0.61%, while Bank of America (BAC) is down 0.25%.

The predominance of declines among the largest technology stocks points to risk-off sentiment in the US market.

Capital flows are shifting toward more defensive US dollar-denominated assets and Treasuries, which is providing moderate support for the dollar and increasing the likelihood of its short-term appreciation against risk-sensitive currencies.

Market Sentiment for October 21, 2026
Bitcoin has caught a tailwind

The crypto market has gained over 1% in the past day to reach $2.77T, moving away from the lower boundary of its short-term trading range and approaching the 50-day moving average. This level may now act as resistance if the recovery in equity markets that drove Bitcoin higher on Tuesday ends. Among the most liquid coins over the past 24 hours, the top gainers were Theta (+9.7%), Near (+7.7%) and Aptos (+7.5%). Only three are down: Basic Attention Token (βˆ’5.4%), which has given up some ground following a 150% surge since the start of the month, plus Tron (βˆ’0.3%) and Cosmos (βˆ’0.1%), whose declines are fairly modest.

The crypto market sentiment index rose to 63, rebounding from the middle of the range. It has thus managed to remain at the upper end of the spectrum, demonstrating a clear shift in market sentiment compared with the 10 months leading up to August.

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ Pre-market trading trends on the US stock market

πŸ“ˆ The US stock market is showing a moderately positive trend in pre-market trading: major technology companies are posting significant gains, while the picture is mixed across other sectors.

In the Information Technology sector, NVIDIA (NVDA) is up 1.70%, while Micron Technology (MU) is up 2.89%.

In the Financials sector, JPMorgan Chase (JPM) is up 0.46%, while Bank of America (BAC) is up 0.71%.

In the Consumer Discretionary sector, Tesla (TSLA) is up 1.25%, while Amazon (AMZN) is up 0.15%.

The prevailing rise in the shares of the largest companies by market capitalisation points to a risk-on sentiment within the US market: interest in shares is high, and some capital is shifting toward riskier assets. For the dollar, this creates a largely neutral, and at times mildly negative, backdrop: demand for safe-haven dollar instruments is limited, but there is no significant pressure on the currency.
