πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ Pre-market trading trends on the US stock market

πŸ“‰ The US stock market is showing a predominantly negative trend in pre-market trading, with the pressure mainly concentrated on the largest companies.

In the Information Technology sector, Microsoft (MSFT) is down 0.37%.
In the Communication Services sector, Alphabet (GOOGL) is up 0.29%.

In the Consumer Staples sector, Coca-Cola (KO) is down 1.02%, while Procter & Gamble (PG) is down 0.84%.

In the Consumer Discretionary sector, McDonald’s (MCD) is down 1.05%.

Selling pressure is clearly prevailing among megacaps, with pressure on Apple and several other liquid stocks creating a risk-off sentiment in the US market.

In the foreign exchange market, this is creating conditions for short-term demand for safe-haven dollar assets and may provide moderate support for the US dollar exchange rate as funds are reallocated into Treasuries and cash.

▢️ Pro News Flash: Oil Market Turns Bearish as Supply Surges

πŸ›’οΈ Brent crude has recorded its sharpest decline in six months, as hopes of diplomatic negotiations between the US and Iran trigger a major shift in market sentiment. Investors are increasingly betting that the Middle East conflict could end sooner than expected, putting pressure on oil prices.

πŸ“‰ Oil supply is also recovering. Exports from Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Iraq and Kuwait climbed 10% to 15.53 million barrels per day in October, reaching their highest levels since the start of the year. Meanwhile, the IEA forecasts global oil demand to fall by 2.6 million barrels per day in 2026.

🌍 The turning point came after Tehran announced that its Supreme Leader had authorised negotiations with the US. Despite continued tensions, including US strikes on Kharg Island and attacks involving tankers in the Strait of Hormuz, markets are beginning to price in a shorter conflict.

πŸ“Š With supply recovering, demand weakening and diplomatic hopes growing, pressure on Brent is increasing. Could the worst be over for oil prices, or is another geopolitical shock waiting to send them higher?

Crypto shakes off the shackles of uncertainty

The crypto market is shaking off the shackles of uncertainty, rising nearly 4% from its low of $2.54T at the start of Asian trading to $2.63T at the time of writing, 2.3% above yesterday’s level. This is an impressive intraday reversal, comparable to what we saw in 2020 and 2024 following the US presidential elections: consolidation or a decline shortly before the elections was followed by steady growth for weeks once the situation became clearer. The latest surge suggests that markets are not particularly afraid of the Democrats, only of uncertainty.

Bitcoin fell to a daily low of $75.7K but quickly reversed course, rising nearly 4% from that low as risk appetite in the equity market increased and the US dollar weakened. The leading cryptocurrency found support in the same area where we saw a reversal in mid-September, avoiding a drop towards the $73K–$75K range, where the 200-day moving average and recent local lows are concentrated. However, it is still too early to confirm a reversal, as this would require a rise above $82K, near which the 50-day moving average and the most recent local high are located.

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ Pre-market trading trends on the US stock market

πŸ“ˆ Positive trends are prevailing in the US stock market’s pre-market session, with clear outperformance among the largest companies by market capitalisation.

In the Financials sector, Berkshire Hathaway (BRK.B) is up 1.65%, while JPMorgan Chase (JPM) is up 1.72%.

In the Information Technology sector, Apple (AAPL) is up 2.53%, while NVIDIA (NVDA) is down 1.20%.

In the Consumer Discretionary sector, Amazon (AMZN) is up 3.89%, while in the Consumer Staples sector, Walmart (WMT) is up 2.69%.

The strengthening of heavyweights such as AAPL, MSFT, AMZN and the Financials sector points to a pronounced risk-on environment: investors are more actively embracing risk, supporting equity indices but limiting the dollar’s potential to strengthen as a safe-haven currency.

In the absence of signs of large-scale capital outflows from the US or a radical revision of Fed rate expectations, the dollar’s near-term performance is likely to remain subdued, depending primarily on yield differentials and economic data rather than on demand for safe-haven assets.
