Here's what Gboard will look like on foldable devices.

The folks at the Rboard Themes channel were able to activate the "Split Keyboard" look of Gboard, which is designed for foldable devices.

They also provided flags that can be activated with the Rboard app (root). They recommend using them only on tablets, because on regular devices the layout is broken and only works properly in landscape mode (4th picture).

YouTube Music tests letting you filter the Up Next queue

Right below the bar noting what radio you’re playing from and "Save" shortcut, there’s a new carousel of filters that you can tap to customize with plays next in Up next. “All” is the default and joined by “Familiar,” “Recommendation,” and “Instrumental.”

According to one user on Reddit who discovered the feature, the filter pills vary by song and they only mention it appearing for radio-generated queues.

Google Drive Web now allows you to cut, copy and paste files using keyboard shortcuts

You can now use familiar keyboard shortcuts Ctrl + C (or ⌘ + C on Mac), Ctrl + X and Ctrl + V to copy, cut and paste Google Drive files in your Chrome browser. This saves you time by allowing you to copy one or more files and move them to new locations in Drive, and across multiple tabs, with fewer clicks.

Additionally, a link to the file and its title will also be captured when copying a file, which allows you to easily paste them into a document or an email.

To help you more easily organize files in multiple locations without necessarily creating duplicate files, Ctrl + C, Ctrl + Shift + V will create shortcuts.
Lastly, you can open files or folders in a new tab using Ctrl+Enter, so that you can easily view multiple files at once, or use different tabs to more easily organize files between two different folder locations.

Google contacts tests redesign of contact information

In the new design, each section of information is now arranged in card blocks. And of course dynamic colors are applied to them.

The change was spotted by our follower @xheshx in Google Сontacts app version 3.68.0.445910596. I, being on a newer version, don't see this change, so this is a server-side test.

First look at the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro. #GoogleIO Follow Google News | En. Русскоязычный контент теперь на Google News | Ru.
The Pixel 7 and 7 Pro will feature the same display as the Pixel 6 series, but with some tweaks.

A new driver for the C10 and P10 displays, which is short for Cheetah and Panther (codenames Pixel 7 and 7 Pro), appeared on Android Open Source Project. As it turns out, future flagships will have the same Samsung S6E3FC3 and S6E3HC3 panels as the Pixel 6 series.

But, since the Pixel 7 will be smaller than the Pixel 6, its display will be affected. It will become 1 mm narrower and 2 mm shorter. There are no differences in display sizes between the Pixel 6 Pro and 7 Pro.

But the Pixel 7 Pro display will be able to display content in 1080p, which will help save energy by rendering everything at 1080p and letting the panel’s “DDIC scaling” convert it to 1440p.

Speaking of which, in Android 13 Beta 1, Mishaal Rahman discovered a settings page related to this feature.

Google working on built-in snore and cough detection for Pixel, Android

Google Health Studies hit version 2.0 to support the launch of a new digital wellbeing study. Strings in that update reveal a “Sleep Audio Collection” study that’s only available to Google employees.

Google's “Health Sensing team is actively working to bring an advanced suite of sensing capabilities and algorithms to Android devices with the goal of providing users with meaningful insight into their sleep.” This audio collection “supports this mission by providing data necessary to validate, tune, and develop such algorithms.”

These “сough and Snore algorithms” will translate into a “bedside monitoring” feature on Android devices that works in a “privacy-preserving, on-device” manner for “nocturnal cough and snore monitoring.”

As Mishaal Rahman notes, this feature could use the Ambient Context API introduced in Android 13 (explained on Esper) , and will probably work through Digital Wellbeing and Clock apps.

Google Assistant working on ‘Personalized speech recognition’

The latest versions of the Google app on Android have new lines referring to "Personalized Speech Recognition," which will appear in the Google Assistant settings with the following description:

Store audio recordings on this device to help Google Assistant get better at recognizing what you say. Audio stays on this device and can be deleted any time by turning off personalized speech recognition.

Generally speaking, this feature will use federated learning model, introduced in March 2021, to better understand your commands. If you disable this feature, you will see a warning:

If you turn this off, your Assistant will be less accurate at recognizing names and other words that you say frequently. All audio used to improve speech recognition for you will be deleted from this device.
