First look at the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro. #GoogleIO Follow Google News | En. Русскоязычный контент теперь на Google News | Ru.
The Pixel 7 and 7 Pro will feature the same display as the Pixel 6 series, but with some tweaks.
A new driver for the C10 and P10 displays, which is short for Cheetah and Panther (codenames Pixel 7 and 7 Pro), appeared on Android Open Source Project. As it turns out, future flagships will have the same Samsung S6E3FC3 and S6E3HC3 panels as the Pixel 6 series.
But, since the Pixel 7 will be smaller than the Pixel 6, its display will be affected. It will become 1 mm narrower and 2 mm shorter. There are no differences in display sizes between the Pixel 6 Pro and 7 Pro.
But the Pixel 7 Pro display will be able to display content in 1080p, which will help save energy by rendering everything at 1080p and letting the panel’s “DDIC scaling” convert it to 1440p.
Speaking of which, in Android 13 Beta 1, Mishaal Rahman discovered a settings page related to this feature.

Google working on built-in snore and cough detection for Pixel, Android
Google Health Studies hit version 2.0 to support the launch of a new digital wellbeing study. Strings in that update reveal a “Sleep Audio Collection” study that’s only available to Google employees.
Google's “Health Sensing team is actively working to bring an advanced suite of sensing capabilities and algorithms to Android devices with the goal of providing users with meaningful insight into their sleep.” This audio collection “supports this mission by providing data necessary to validate, tune, and develop such algorithms.”
These “сough and Snore algorithms” will translate into a “bedside monitoring” feature on Android devices that works in a “privacy-preserving, on-device” manner for “nocturnal cough and snore monitoring.”
As Mishaal Rahman notes, this feature could use the Ambient Context API introduced in Android 13 (explained on Esper) , and will probably work through Digital Wellbeing and Clock apps.

Google Pixel Tablet gets USI certification and stylus support
The Universal Stylus Initiative's Certified Devices page has a new Google-branded device codenamed Tangor. As stated in the table, it is specifically a "Device" (not a stylus), and in the model column it says "Tablet". There is no way to say for sure that this is a Pixel Tablet. But there can be no other assumptions at this point.
If everything is correct, this will be the first Android device to get USI certification. (Unless, of course, it is overtaken by the competition).
This may be connected with the new developer option "Stylus handwriting" in Android 13 Beta 1.

An engineering sample of Google Pixel 7 was put up on Ebay
As the seller states, this copy is an engineering sample, as evidenced by the logo on the back cover. Device runs on Android 13, which has Pixel apps in development stage
The product comes "as is" and without any guarantees. The IMEI of the device is clean, and the certification model is designated as GUV6C, which is the first time we've heard of it. In addition, the device is equipped with 128 GB of storage.
It is worth noting that, judging by the reflection on the back of the device, these photos were taken on the Pixel 7 Pro. We can only guess how it turned out that way.

Next-gen Tensor on Pixel 7 said to be 4nm, made by Samsung again
According to Korean publication DDaily.co.kr, Samsung will once again produce Google's second-generation Tensor chip. It will be built on a 4-nanometer process (compared to 5 nm today). The only other specification disclosed today is the use of panel-level packaging (PLP) technology:
PLP is a packaging technique in which chips cut from a wafer are placed on a rectangular panel. It is possible to minimize the discarded edge, thereby reducing cost and improving productivity.
Mass production of the second-generation Tensor is said to begin in June, while the release of the smartphone is scheduled for October.
Today’s report also says that Samsung today manufactures Waymo’s autonomous driving chips, and it could produce Google server chips in the future.

Source: Pixel Watch battery life expected to last a day
9to5Google's source says that the Pixel Watch's 300mAh battery will last a day. This is the estimate Google has at this stage of the pre-release life cycle, so things could change by the time the device is released. Under what conditions the data was obtained is not reported. (Whether AOD was turned on, measurement of sleep data, etc.)
It was also revealed that the Pixel Watch's full charge time via a magnetic USB-C cable is about 110 minutes, which is equivalent to the Galaxy Watch4.

A mysterious high-end Pixel phone may be in the works.
Earlier, 9to5Google found mentions of "C10" and "P10" displays on the Android Open Source Project, which are associated with the Cheetah (Pixel 7 Pro) and Panther (Pixel 7), respectively.
In addition to those, there were also discovered devices codenamed Felix and Lynx. The former may turn out to be the Pixel 7a, and the latter may be the newly delayed Pixel Notepad, running on second-generation Tensor.
But the most interesting thing is that Google is preparing to support a completely different display, which has been labeled as "G10", with the same characteristics as the 6 Pro / 7 Pro (120 Hz, 1440×3120 resolution, 71x155mm physical size), but made not by Samsung, but BOE, a Chinese manufacturer of displays, which is sometimes used by Apple.
What this Pixel device is, however, remains a mystery.
