In 1955, the Hula Chair was introduced as a chair with a motorized seat that rotated the user's hips in a circular motion. It was marketed as a way to exercise, improve posture, and strengthen core muscles while sitting at a desk. Despite attracting widespread attention, there was little scientific evidence to support its claimed health benefits, and the invention soon became known as one of history's most unusual office gadgets.

The 20 July Plot, also known as Operation Valkyrie, was a failed attempt to assassinate Adolf Hitler on 20 July 1944. German officers, led by Claus von Stauffenberg, placed a bomb in a briefcase at Hitlerโ€™s headquarters. The explosion killed four people, but Hitler survived with minor injuries. The planned coup failed within hours, and many conspirators were arrested and executed.

Devils Tower is a massive, 386 metres Wyoming monolith and USA's first national monument. While created 50 million years ago from magma, no one truly knows how it formed, as geologists debate if it cooled underground or is an ancient volcano core. Today, it holds deep spiritual significance for over 20 Indigenous tribes and is a top destination for climbing and hiking.

New Caledonian crows are among the most intelligent animals ever studied. They can make and modify tools from twigs, leaves, and even metal wire to retrieve food. In laboratory experiments, some crows have solved multi-step puzzles by using one tool to obtain another before reaching a reward. Their ability to plan, learn, and create tools has been compared to that of great apes, making them one of the few non-human species known to manufacture tools in the wild.

Long before the rise of the Maya and Aztec civilizations, the city of Caral flourished on the coast of present-day Peru. Built around 2600 BC, it is considered the oldest known city in the Americas. Caral featured pyramids, plazas, and sophisticated urban planning, yet no evidence of warfare or defensive walls has been found. The civilization mysteriously declined centuries later, and the city remained buried and largely forgotten until archaeologists began excavating it in the 1990s.

A small explosion occurred in a shed with 90 cows inside after an electrostatic charge ignited the methane gas produced by the animals (a.k.a farts)

Cattle naturally produce methane daily due to the special stomachs they have.

"The Valley of Square Trees" in Panama has uniquely square-trunked trees, which are a species of the Malvaceae family called Quararibea asterolepis. They are naturally occurring.

These trees feature straight edges and distinct corners on their lower trunks and tree rings. Scientists from the University of Florida have attempted to grow saplings elsewhere, but the trees only retain this rare, right-angled shape in the specific volcanic soil of El Valle.

The German word Kummerspeck literally means "grief bacon," but it has nothing to do with bacon. It refers to the extra weight someone gains from emotional eating during times of stress, sadness, or heartbreak.

The moon orbits Earth from west to east. However, we see it rise in the east and set in the west because Earth rotates on its axis from west to east much faster than the moon orbits. This rapid planetary spin overrides the moon's slower orbital speed, creating the optical illusion that the moon is traveling backward across our daily sky.

The sandwich is named after John Montagu, the 4th Earl of Sandwich, an English nobleman from the 1700s. According to popular accounts, he asked for meat to be served between two slices of bread so he could continue working and playing cards without using utensils. Others began ordering "the same as Sandwich," and the name eventually became associated with the dish itself.

Jujutsu (ๆŸ”่ก“) is a traditional Japanese martial art that originated during Japanโ€™s feudal period, with its techniques developing from around the 12th century. It was created for samurai who could no longer rely on their weapons. Instead of brute strength, jujutsu uses leverage, balance, timing, and technique. Training includes throws, joint locks, chokeholds, escapes, and strikes. Hundreds of different styles exist today.

In Denmark, an old humorous tradition says that if you are still unmarried on your 25th birthday, your friends may surprise you by covering you in cinnamon. If you remain unmarried at 30, some groups jokingly switch to pepper instead. The custom is believed to have originated from traveling spice merchants, who often remained single because they spent much of their lives on the road.

In 1785, the Diamond Necklace Affair became one of the biggest scandals in French royal history. Although Queen Marie Antoinette had no involvement, she was falsely accused of secretly obtaining an extraordinarily expensive diamond necklace through deception. The scandal destroyed much of her public reputation, fueled anti-monarchy sentiment, and became one of the events that weakened trust in the French monarchy before the French Revolution.
