Interesting facts about the lungs:
1๏ธโฃThe organ is given this name for a reason. It is the only part of the human and animal body that does not sink in water.
2๏ธโฃThe organ contains 450 ml of blood, one tenth of its total volume in the body. In the case of an injury, the lack of this fluid is compensated from the reserve.
3๏ธโฃThe left lung is smaller than the right. The first consists of two lobes, while the second consists of three. This is necessary so that there is room for the heart in the chest.

WHY do people turn gray?
Melanocytes, located in the hair follicle, are responsible for hair color. They synthesize hair pigments, and their combination determines hair color. Indeed, melanocytes themselves are formed from stem cells.
As we age, the hair follicles wear down. This is manifested by a decrease in the number of melanocytes in the hair follicles, as well as a decrease in the activity of the remaining melanocytes.

Researchers in Japan developed an mRNA-based cancer vaccine targeting gastric cancer neoantigens, which showed strong immune activation and tumor regression in mice. When combined with anti-PD-1 therapy, it achieved sustained antitumor effects and was effective against hard-to-treat peritoneal metastases. This approach could pave the way for personalized, genome-informed cancer immunotherapy, though identifying the right neoantigens remains a key challenge.

A New Protein Discovered, Which Could Increase Human Lifespan by 7 Years
Gene expression is the process in which genetic information from a DNA segment is converted into RNA or protein. This study focuses on cells that express the protein p21 at high levels. These cells accumulate in various tissues as we age and appear to contribute to aging. By periodically removing these cells in mice, researchers were able to extend the animals' lives by an average of 9%, or about seven human years. More importantly, the mice remained healthy and physically active throughout their extended lives.
The researchers used an innovative approach: genetically modified mice that allowed them to target and eliminate cells with high p21 levels. A genetic switch was created in the mice, which, when activated, caused the cells with elevated p21 to self-destruct.

WHY do baby teeth fall out?
One important function of deciduous teeth is that they "point" to the molar teeth where they will erupt. If a baby tooth falls out prematurely, the permanent tooth "loses its bearings" and can grow crooked.
By the age of 6-7, these teeth will begin to erupt. This process is accompanied by the resorption of the roots of the baby teeth. This causes the baby teeth to loosen. When the shortened root can no longer hold the baby tooth in the hole, it falls out.

WHY does a mosquito bite itch?
It's all about the proteins contained in the saliva of a mosquito, the first bite does not bother the immune system, but the subsequent causes a violent response in the form of red permanent itchy spots.
After a certain number of bites, the immune system stops overreacting to foreign proteins and the bite sites cease to bother.
As it turns out, humans are not really adored by mosquitoes. Buffalo or rat blood, owing to the amino acid isoleucine, is more beloved by mosquitoes.

WHY do knees crunch?
Cartilage tissue lies between the two bones, reducing the friction created by walking between the bone tissue, but gradually the cartilage tissue loses its protective properties and the friction cannot be avoided.
Crunching can occur when carrying heavy loads, where cartilage tissue deforms from the increased load. Great stress on the knee comes from awkward shoes with a high heel, so at times you have to make a choice between healthy shoes with a small heel, or a spectacular one with a big rise.

First aid for an asthma attack
โ Let's play with the situation. You find yourself near such a person. What should you do?
Patients diagnosed with bronchial asthma have medication with them to stop an attack. But it may happen that the medication was not there. In this case, you should not hesitate to call an ambulance.
- Ensure free access of air to the patient: take off his clothing, if possible open a window.
- Sit the sick person so he can put his hands on the edge of a chair. If the person is lying, do not lie on his side, not on his back. It is good to tilt the head.
- The person must breathe out correctly: Make long, deep breaths as if he is breathing through a straw.
- Try to calm the patient, so that he does not feel frightened or panicked.
