How to work with Direct/Smart links in HilltopAds?

A Direct/Smart link is one of the most flexible ad formats which is ideal for those who want to monetize their group in social networks or link the opening of an ad to a click on a certain element on the site.

How to create Direct/Smart links?
* Go to the Manage Site & Zones section
* Click ADD DIRECT LINK button
* Fill in the Name field
* Select a traffic Category: Mainstream or Non-mainstream
* Click Add Direct Link button

A link will become available to you, you can copy it by simply clicking on the URL button below. Next, place the link on your website or blog, or even in a social network.

🔹 HTML pages and websites
Ads link is a simple URL, so you will need to use the standard “<a>” tag for hyperlinks:
For example:
<a href="your direct link URL">link text</a>
Also here is the way is to create a button and add a direct/smart link to it:

🔹 Wordpress site
Open or create a post, choose a word or a piece of text, a button, or an image and use the standard WordPress editor tools to hit the 🔗 icon or press Ctrl+K (Windows) to add an ad pay link. Paste the code snippet from HilltopAds and select “open in a new tab” and “no-follow”. The “no-follow” parameter is used for the search bots, as it disables them from following links and index them. Adding this option to all text link ads is much preferred.

🔹 Social networks
In social media accounts you will need an intermediary page to lead your followers to. Because social networks don't allow putting a third-party link in the bio or profile, it may cause a ban.

🔹 Mobile applications
Direct links can be placed anywhere in a mobile app, just make sure it is visible and clickable, for example in the text, images, custom banners, and etc. Be careful when adding links to core navigation buttons or placing them too close, as it may result in accidental clicks that lead to annoyance and closing ads.

What API parameters are available to Hilltop advertisers and how can they be configured?

API is a powerful tool that allows advertisers to measure the success of their campaigns, optimize ad efficiency, and ensure user privacy. APIs offer a range of benefits, from simplified campaign management to improved tracking of effectiveness and creating statistics exports without entering the network’s personal account.

How to set up API in HilltopAds?
🔹 Go to the My Account section, then to the API subsection.
🔹 Generate a unique API key. There may be multiple API keys, so you can specify a description for convenience.
🔹 Make sure the key status is set to Active.

What API methods can you use when working with advertising accounts?
1. Statistics.
2. Start campaign. Turns campaign status to “on”. Please, keep in mind that traffic will start only after the campaign is approved by the moderator. The current approval state will be indicated in the response.
3. Stop campaign. Turns campaign status to “off”. This will stop traffic, but some inertia (up to 10 minutes) may take place.
4. Archive campaign.
5. Unarchive campaign.
6. Add to Blacklist/Whitelist. Please, keep in mind that some inertia (up to 1 hour) may occur.
7. Remove from Blacklist/Whitelist. This action just cancels source blacklisting. Please, keep in mind that some inertia (up to 1 hour) may occur.
8. Clear campaign Blacklist/Whitelist.
9. Set bid. Set up the price of action for a campaign of CPA type, price of click for a campaign of CPC type, or price of 1000 impressions for a campaign of CPM type.
10. Set destination URL. Changes final destination URL for traffic. Please, keep in mind that this action may require moderation. During the moderation process, traffic will be sent to the previous destination URL.
11. Replace domain.
12. Inventory. Returns a list of advertisers’ campaigns and ads.
13. Campaign Blacklist/Whitelist. The list of zones added to the blacklist/whitelist.
14. Balance.

For example.
We want to get statistics on impressions for the period from April 1 to April 4, 2023, grouping data by date.
To do this, we generated an API key: 1c2345AA. Then we insert the key into the request, which can look like this: example-hilltopads/api/advertiser/listStats?key=1c2345AA&date=2023-04-01&date2=2023-04-04&group=date.

The request always has the same structure with the same parameters for tapping data.

The API key, like an account ID, allows you to extract only yours from all the data.
Statistics can be obtained on: GEO, zoneID, campaign ID, creative ID, and grouped by date, hours, GEO, zoneID, source ID, campaign ID, or creative ID.

For convenience, in your personal account in the API section, we have described each API method, its example, and possible errors in response to requests.
