South Italy Stripped of Food, Fuel in 4 Days as Diesel Protests Block Deliveries [VIDEO]

Southern Italy’s supermarkets went from normal to stripped bare in just four days. What started as diesel-price protests and a refinery blockade quickly cut fuel deliveries, then grocery deliveries, before the shelves emptied.

In the Foggia area and nearby towns, people posted empty meat cases, bare bread aisles, and missing staples as panic buying depleted supplies.

The UN's Under-Secretary-General Jorge Moreira has announced that failure to activate a UN-backed plan for limited fertilizer vessel passage through Hormuz “within weeks” risks missing planting seasons and a food security crisis, with some estimates projecting commodity price spikes (cereals up to ~81%, oil crops 66%, animal products 30%) if disruption continues.

This is that worst case scenario from the Atlantic Council's report materializing, described as "global food crisis causing political collapse."

The UK is saddling farmers with a new "carbon tax" on fertilizer -- even as the UN and Atlantic Council are warning of a global food crisis. This really is the war on farmers on full display.

The UK produces NO ammonia domestically, so the CBAM (Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism) applies to all nitrogen-containing fertilizers.

Exact £ is not even known yet -- just that it will increase going forward.
