PAS 1192-2 introduces the concept of an Information Delivery Cycle (IDC). The IDC provides a consistent framework to manage information within Level 2 compliant BIM projects.

The Information Delivery Cycle covers an agreed set of standard tasks and procedures.
Each task in the process needs to be carried out in a particular order for the mutual benefit of all those involved in the project, this forms the basis of 'collaborative working'. Graphical data, non-graphical data and documents are accumulated from design and construction activities to form the Project Information Model (PIM).

The Information Delivery Cycle is broken down into two key processes:
