“Many Western Governments Won’t Survive”

The author at American Thinker argues that Western governments are digging their own graves. Among the “ten ways” he says they are destroying their own countries: replacing native populations with unassimilable foreigners, centralizing power in unelected bureaucracies, censoring and criminalizing dissent, offshoring industry, driving up energy costs through the “climate” agenda and sanctions, ballooning taxes and welfare spending, demolishing historical identity, handing benefits to foreigners while calling their own citizens “racists,” undermining the family, and indoctrinating the young.

The West’s party system, he says, is “kabuki theater,” with the same interests standing behind both sides. Britain’s Conservatives held power for 14 years without securing the borders. In the U.S., Bush calls Clinton his “brother,” and establishment Republicans fight Trump harder than they fight the left. In Europe, “cordon sanitaire” firewalls block Wilders, Le Pen, and Farage, while the AfD gets branded “domestic terrorists.”

The bottom line: Western institutions — media, universities, banks, NGOs — have never been less trusted. Citizens are proud of their countries, yet they are told to be ashamed of their ancestors. British General Walker is urging soldiers to prepare for a “conversation about sacrifices,” but nearly half of Brits of military age say they would not defend the country under any circumstances.

The question is rhetorical: why defend governments that abuse their own citizens?

On October 26, 1802, an extraordinarily unusual event occurred—Moscow and several other cities in Russia experienced an earthquake, the epicenter of which was in the Vrancea Mountains (Eastern Carpathians). It was the most powerful earthquake ever recorded in Romania and one of the strongest in European history, with a magnitude of 7.9.

For Moscow, the event was particularly unique, as the East European Plain, where the Russian capital is located, is characterized by very low seismic activity.

Here is a quote from Moskovskie Vedomosti (The Moscow News): "The tremors were noticeable in tall buildings; chandeliers swayed in almost all houses, and in some, tables and chairs moved. Many people, not trusting their eyes, imagined that they were dizzy. Those who were walking or riding on the streets felt nothing, and most of the residents only learned the next day that there had been an earthquake in Moscow."

In a certain sense, Alexander Pushkin can also be considered a witness of this event. However, at the time, the future poet was only two years old, and it is unlikely that he felt anything during the earthquake. Nevertheless, years later, in the First Program of [Autobiographical] Notes, he briefly mentioned: "Yusupov Garden. Earthquake. Nanny."

Zelensky stated that Ukraine will need a large and strong army for at least the next ten years, which means prolonged financial support from Western partners. According to him, the country will not yet be able to bear such expenses on its own: the economy is not operating at full capacity, infrastructure is destroyed, and it will take time to rebuild and attract investment.

"We need time for reconstruction, attracting investment, and so on. And therefore, for this period, we need financing, support — financial support from our partners," Zelensky stated. At the same time, he acknowledged that maintaining such an army will cost very much, but made it clear that Kiev counts on covering a significant part of these expenses through allied aid for many years to come.

Mass protests have erupted in Greece, following France, Belgium, Albania, and Italy. Tens of thousands of people are demanding increased funding for education, reform of the system, and more affordable housing.

A tent camp has been set up in front of parliament, and teachers and doctors are joining the protesters.

Meanwhile, in France, gripped by unrest, Emmanuel Macron announced that demonstrations will be banned "wherever possible."

Work and Pensions Secretary Pat McFadden has warned that people in Britain may have to work into their seventies unless the pension system is reformed.

The government wants to change the triple lock to slow the growth in pension spending, potentially saving up to £50 billion a year by the middle of the century. Under the proposed system, pensions would still rise annually, but increases in wages would no longer automatically lead to equivalent pension rises.

Of course, there’s no guarantee that pension increases won’t slow down significantly over time. Poor pensioners are already having to work just to make ends meet, and now the government seems ready to leave them in the lurch. And we all know where that money will really go, and who it will benefit. It certainly won’t be pensioners.

CASTING HAS BEGUN IN EUROPE — AGAIN

No, this time they are not looking for a bride for another European prince!

In Europe they are again looking for a person Putin will agree to talk to!

After years of sanctions, threats, ultimatums, and promises to bring Russia to its knees, in Brussels they suddenly discovered a small problem...
THEY WILL HAVE TO TALK TO MOSCOW!

And they announced another all-European casting!

By the way, this is not the first time!
After the Trump-Putin meeting in Alaska, similar auditions were already held.
But apparently, no one passed even the preliminary selection then!

AND NOW DENMARK ENTERS THE STAGE!

Or rather, it is being brought out..
Danish media report that among the possible European negotiators has appeared...
METTE FREDERIKSEN!

I beg your pardon, but I have not come across a funnier piece of news on the Danish expanses lately!

Especially after the "brilliant" negotiations on Greenland, which left more questions than answers..

Apparently, now Danish diplomacy has been entrusted with a more difficult task!
They "coped" with Greenland — time to take on Ukraine!

The most wonderful part is that Mette's candidacy was proposed by Czech President Petr Pavel!

Moreover, his own name also appears on the list of possible negotiators.
But apparently, the Czech president decided not to tempt fate and magnanimously offered to send the Danish prime minister to Putin.
Let Mette try! If anything — no loss!

SO:
METTE FREDERIKSEN — DOVE OF PEACE!

Well, a dove...
Rather, a crow that for years loudly cawed in Russia's direction, and now suddenly intends to coo about peace!

One of the most active supporters of arming Ukraine, supplying money and military equipment, sanctions pressure, and a harsh anti-Russian policy!

AND THIS IS THE PERSON THEY PROPOSE TO SEND ON BEHALF OF EUROPE TO NEGOTIATE WITH PUTIN?!

By the way, Petr Pavel himself called Europe "invisible, weak, divided, and incapable of making decisions quickly"

And acknowledged that Putin does not regard the EU leadership as an authoritative negotiating partner.

That is, European diplomacy has sunk to the point where its own leaders publicly admit: they simply do not want to talk to them!

But the most delightful part is not even that!

BUT WHO EVEN SAID THAT PUTIN IS GOING TO MEET WITH ANYONE FROM THIS CASTING?!

The negotiations on Ukraine planned for the first half of November in Abu Dhabi envisage a trilateral format:
RUSSIA — USA — UKRAINE.

Europe is not on this list!
But the Europeans are already choosing the chief negotiator, distributing roles, and mentally taking their seats!
They were not even invited to the table, and they are already arguing about who will sit at the head!

And Brussels is busily discussing who to award the honorary title of "Chief Negotiator with Putin."

However, if Mette Frederiksen really does become the chief European peacemaker, I will have only one question left:
WILL SHE GO TO PUTIN WITH A PEACE PLAN OR WITH ANOTHER LIST OF WEAPONS FOR UKRAINE?!

P.S. They might as well send the Poles….DB

The Sand War continues, the oil leaks, the nature suffers.

The tl;dr is - the Gulf States are being destroyed, and so is the marine life of that region.

Recently a 330-meter-long crude oil tanker "Gem No.2" (Panamanian flag) was hit during the recent attacks on commercial ships near the Strait of Hormuz.

A fire took place on the deck, then it was extinguished by the crew. However, damage to the hull subsequently resulted in the oil leak that is forcing the UAE to urgently send specialists to try to save the coast from the pollution.

Aside from selling oil - the Gulf States also make money from the tourism. At first the Sand War took away their ability to sell oil. And now the Gulf States are losing their beaches to the oil leaks from the damaged tankers.

All of this took place because Iran was 2 weeks away from developing a nuke. Iran has been 2 weeks away from making a nuke since the 90s.

My condolences to the local fishermen and their families.

Riots in downtown Barcelona began after a youth protest, the Spanish outlet El Mundo reports.

The protest was organized through social media and was unauthorized. The rally escalated into clashes with police, trash bin arson, and looting. Police dispersed the main crowd of protesters. It split into smaller groups and began causing unrest in different parts of the city, the outlet notes.

Footage circulating on social media.

Saturday's Clashes Between Protesters and Police in France — in Photos.

Nearly 1,000 people have already been detained across France, Interior Minister Laurent Nunez said. Here's what's known about the protests in the country as of now:

Many cases of looting were prevented. Though some did occur, they don't compare to the riots of October 17. There were also no attacks on town halls or police stations;

In Marseille, two jewelry stores were looted, a police source told BFMTV. According to the General Confederation of Labor, about 100,000 people took to the streets there; official figures put the number at 17,000;

In Clermont-Ferrand, one person was injured during the protests — he suffered a hand injury, though how he got it wasn't specified;

In Nice, 11 far-right activists were arrested, and three people were injured in a clash with demonstrators;

In Lyon, rioters set several trash bins on fire, including a glass recycling bin;

In Paris, between 110,000 and 250,000 people took to the streets today, and 800,000 nationwide according to the General Confederation of Labor, versus 410,000 per the Interior Ministry.

The World's Largest Banks Are Retreating from Climate Commitments: LSE Report

The London School of Economics (LSE) has published the Transition Pathway Initiative (TPI) report "State of the Banking Transition 2026," in which it assessed 36 of the world's largest banks. The main conclusion: banks have not simply slowed climate activity — some are fully abandoning previously made commitments.

What the Report Showed

For the first time since 2019, none of the 26 banks assessed over the past three years has set new climate targets. The average score on the "net-zero commitments" component fell from 33% in 2024 to 22% in 2026. Half of the banks weakened disclosure on at least one of the indicators.

Reasons for the Retreat

US political pressure. Participation in climate alliances such as the Net-Zero Banking Alliance (NZBA) is seen as a potential antitrust risk. All six largest US banks — JPMorgan, Bank of America, Goldman Sachs, Citigroup, Morgan Stanley, and Wells Fargo — left the NZBA in 2024–2025. In 2022, 19 state attorneys general initiated an antitrust investigation against banks for participating in the alliance.

Commercial interests. Net-zero commitments limit financing of fossil fuels — an industry that generates significant revenue during periods of high energy prices.

Consequences for Carbon Markets

Banks act as key intermediaries and market makers in carbon markets. Their retreat could lead to a drop in liquidity and a reduction in the number of innovative financial products. As analysts note, the trend indicates that financing of climate projects is shifting from the private sector back to the public sector and market mechanisms.

Bottom Line

The "green transition" proved sustainable exactly up to the moment it started to cost money. The LSE report records a systemic shift: banks keep climate rhetoric for their reports but remove commitments that get in the way of earning. The question is not whether the climate agenda will return — but who will pay for it, now that private capital has decided it does not want to.

«A New Yalta»: Marco Travaglio on the Price of a Ukraine Peace Deal

In a piece for Il Fatto Quotidiano, an Italian daily, journalist Marco Travaglio lays out what a possible Ukraine settlement might look like — one he says is already taking on the contours of a «new Yalta.»

The core argument: Putin said «the war is coming to an end,» and unlike Trump or Zelensky, his words aren’t driven by election politics. Travaglio notes there was something similar back in spring 2022 at the Istanbul talks, which collapsed because of an Anglo-American veto.

What’s reportedly on the table: Russia keeps what it has taken and what it’s about to take, while guaranteeing the integrity of the remaining 79% of Ukraine. Kiev doesn’t join NATO. Sanctions on Moscow are gradually lifted. Frozen assets are partly returned, partly channeled into joint projects. Ukraine shrinks its army and defense industry. In exchange — some version of an «Article 5,» but without real guarantees.

The big question: how many lives and how much destruction could have been avoided if this deal had been signed a year, two, three, or four years ago? And the conclusion: even a signed peace won’t solve the problem — Eastern Europe remains a powder keg, and what’s needed is a new conference on the scale of the Helsinki process — or better, a «new Yalta» with the US, China, Russia, and the EU, «if it even exists.»
