استقبل رئيس مجلس الوزراء السيد محمد شياع السوداني، دوقة أدنبرة الأميرة صوفي هيلين ريز.
وجرى خلال اللقاء استعراض العلاقات الثنائية بين العراق والمملكة المتحدة، حيث رحّب سيادته بالدوقة وقدّم التهنئة بمناسبة تتويج الملك تشارلز الثالث، كما ثمّن الدور البريطاني في مساندة العراق بحربه ضد الإرهاب.
وبيّن السيد السوداني أنّ العراق خطا خطوات كبيرة على صعيد إزالة الآثار والآلام الإنسانية التي خلّفها الإرهاب، وبذل جهوداً لدعم النساء من الإيزيديات وباقي المكوّنات، اللاتي تعرّضن لأبشع ظلم واعتداء، وأطلق برامجَ لحمايتهنّ وتوفير كلّ أشكال الدعم لهنّ، فضلاً عن تقديم المجرمين للعدالة وملاحقتهم لينالوا القصاص العادل.
وأشار سيادته إلى دعم الحكومة منظمات المجتمع المدني وبرامج المنظمات الدولية الإنسانية العاملة في العراق، والحرص على تطبيق مبادئ حقوق الإنسان ودعم الحريات وتعويض الضحايا.
من جانبها، أعربت دوقة أدنبرة عن سعادتها لزيارة العراق، مشيدة بجهود الحكومة العراقية في الجانب الإنساني وتبني الستراتيجية الوطنية لدعم المرأة، فضلاً عن الانفتاح للتعاون مع المنظمات الدولية والاطلاع على تجارب الدول في التعامل مع ضحايا جرائم الحروب.

His Excellency warmly welcomed Her Highness, the Duchess of Edinburgh, expressing congratulations on the coronation of King Charles III. Furthermore, he extended heartfelt appreciation for the invaluable British support in Iraq's relentless fight against terrorism.
Mr. Al-Sudani emphasized Iraq's significant progress in mitigating the human impact and suffering caused by terrorism. He highlighted the country's determined efforts to support Yazidi women and other affected communities who have endured unimaginable injustice and assault. Iraq has implemented comprehensive programs to safeguard their well-being and extend various forms of assistance. Furthermore, the government has taken decisive action to ensure the prosecution and just retribution of those responsible for these crimes.
His Excellency underscored the government's unwavering commitment to supporting civil society organizations and facilitating the operations of international humanitarian organizations within Iraq. He emphasized the government's profound dedication to upholding human rights principles, fostering freedoms, and ensuring the well-being of victims by providing them with appropriate compensation.
The Duchess of Edinburgh conveyed her delight at visiting Iraq and commended the Iraqi government's remarkable efforts in the humanitarian sector.
