Thank you for your enthusiasm and support for our upcoming event!
Here's a quick rundown of what to expect, along with a couple of important notes (and a dash of humor because, why not?).

First things first, gentle reminders:

1) This event is supported and conducted at the University. Consumption and serving alcohol in this event is prohibited. We will not be serving alcohols and we are kindly asking you to not bring any alcoholic drinks with you.

2) We will be photographing the event for our social media channels on Telegram and Instagram. If you prefer not to appear in these photos or have your image shared online, please inform us at the event.

3) One final note, this event is a no-go zone for those under 18. If you've accidentally invited a teen, fear not! Just shoot us an email at samasedaghat607@gmail.com, and we'll handle the ticket cancellation faster than you can say "Yalda!"

Speaking of Yalda, our event kicks off at 6pm on Thursday, 21st of December, in CRX room 309. Fashionably late is so last season, so please be on time! Also, we managed to extend our event for an extra hour. Thus, the event will be held from 6pm to 10pm.

Now, let’s talk about the star of the show – the food! We’ll be serving a traditional Yalda feast that’s so good, it might just make you forget about your New Year's diet resolutions. Expect a delicious spread of Aash, Pomegranates, Watermelon, Nuts, Persian Sweets, Cake, and heartwarming tea. Remember, it’s not just a meal; it’s a culinary journey! However, a heads-up for our friends with dietary restrictions: we can’t guarantee an allergy-free environment or that there will be no cross-contamination. Please dine with caution!

After indulging in the feast, we’ll embrace a cherished Yalda tradition – Faal-e-Hafez. Whether you're a believer in fate or just in for some fun, picking a random verse from Hafez's poetry will surely add a mystical touch to the evening. Who knows, you might just find the answers to life’s big questions in his timeless verses!

Post-feast and poetry, we'll dive into a short presentation on the significance of Yalda night. Don't worry, it's brief – we know the real reason you're all here is for the Bezan o Beraghs (dancing and merrymaking) that follows. So bring your dancing shoes and get ready to show off those moves you’ve been practicing in front of the mirror!

Dress code? It’s dressy casual. Think "I want to impress, but I also want to be comfortable enough to out-dance everyone and ponder over Hafez's wisdom." Looking forward to a night of great food, fascinating culture, and possibly life-changing poetry readings. See you there!

As we gather in remembrance, we pause to honor and reflect on the lives of those from Ottawa tragically lost in the downing of Ukraine International Airlines Flight PS752. Their sudden departure from our world on January 8, 2020, leaves a void in the hearts of not only their families and friends but also our entire community, including the members of the Iranian Students Association of the University of Ottawa (ISAUO).
In this moment of profound sorrow, we remember each individual for their unique contributions, their dreams, their aspirations, and the indelible marks they left on our lives. These were not just names in the news; they were our colleagues, friends, mentors, and loved ones. Their absence is felt deeply in the halls of our university, in the streets of Ottawa, and in the quiet moments we spend alone with our memories.
To the families and friends grappling with this irreplaceable loss, we extend our heartfelt condolences. In these times of mourning, words often fall short of capturing the depth of our emotions. Yet, through our shared grief, we find strength in each other and in the memories that continue to live on.
This memorial serves not only as a testament to the lives tragically cut short but also as a solemn reminder of the fragility of life and the bonds that tie us together, regardless of distance and nationality. We stand together in the face of this tragedy, united in our resolve to honor their legacy through acts of kindness, scholarship, and the relentless pursuit of a world marked by understanding and peace.
We encourage members of ISAUO and the broader community to share their memories, stories, and tributes, creating a tapestry of remembrance that transcends time and borders. Let us hold dear the values and dreams they embodied and strive to realize them in our own lives, in their memory.
In their honor, may we continue to build a community that cherishes diversity, fosters understanding, and promotes mutual respect. They may have left our world, but their spirits and the impact of their lives will forever be a part of our community.
