Competitions, contests, tournaments – it’s been a heated week at ITMO! 🌟

🤖 At the ITMO EduLeaders competition, new projects combined AI, gamification, and storytelling. We got to meet the winners and learn about their innovative ideas!

🏆 At the inclusive projects contest IT Planet 2024, ITMO was named an absolute champion – receiving recognition at the Mentor Forum in Moscow.

🔒 ITMO co-hosted the grand finals of BRICS+ CTF, an international cybersecurity tournament that welcomed top teams from five continents.

Medical insurance for ITMO students 🏥

You can obtain a short-term health insurance policy in your country before entering Russia and gain an extended one upon your arrival. You can also sign up for options offered by ITMO (Renaissance) or choose another insurance company in St. Petersburg.

🔎 When obtaining an insurance policy, pay attention to:
• The type of insurance – for international students
• The coverage area – St. Petersburg and Leningrad Oblast
• The policy coverage – the lowest-priced versions include only repatriation, while the basic set tends to cover emergency medical care and dental care
• The date of activation – not all insurance policies are valid immediately; some of them take effect five days or two weeks after payment

💸 The price range may differ. Here’s an example from Renaissance insurance:
• Emergency help — 4000 rubles/year
• Full coverage – 15,000 rubles/year

From Egypt to Russia 🇪🇬

Meet Ramy, a mechatronics and robotics student who chose ITMO for its unmatched ICPC record and vibrant academic environment. What’s he up to now? We’ll allow Ramy to explain:

I’m particularly interested in drones and how they interact with the Internet of Things (IoT). Right now, I’m working on a project where I’m building a drone that monitors different terrains. For example, it would be able to navigate deserts, permafrost, and rainforests with equal efficiency and precision. It’s still a work in progress, but I’m really excited about the possibilities in this field.
