ITMO goes green 💚

Thanks to our new waste-sorting initiative, plastic, glass, and aluminum collected at the university will be sent for recycling.

Currently, waste-sorting stations are available on the Lomonosova campus. If this initiative proves successful, it will be extended to other campuses as well. If you’d like to join in, check the instructions on the cards below!

Learn more about the project via the website or ITMO.GREEN community.

The 2025 Nobel Prizes are here 🔥

This year’s laureates have changed how we see chemistry, physics, and medicine, and their work resonates with what our scientists and researchers do at ITMO.

➡️ The Nobel Prize in Chemistry was awarded to Susumu Kitagawa, Richard Robson, and Omar M. Yaghi for the creation of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). Valentin Milichko explains.

➡️ John Clarke, Michel Devore, and John Martinis received the Nobel Prize in Physics for their insights into macroscopic quantum tunneling, the phenomenon behind superconducting circuits and quantum computers. Ivan Iorsh sheds light on this topic.

➡️ This year’s Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine was awarded to Mary E. Brunkow, Fred Ramsdell, and Shimon Sakaguchi for furthering the understanding of how our immune system protects us from diseases – and from itself. Learn more from Oleg Kuchur.
