❗️Test optional 🇺🇸 сохранится, как минимум в ближайшие годы.
Уже более 1350 колледжей и университетов подтвердили официально, что они будут test optional как минимум в этом году. Многие уже заявили, что сохранят политику в следующем, и даже 2023 году. Постоянно обновляемый список здесь https://fairtest.org/university/optional
Ещё одним подтверждением, что test optional это всерьёз и надолго стало признание этого факта главой ACT (второго по масштабам общеобразовательного теста 🇺🇸 после SAT от Collegeboard) Janet Godwin https://leadershipblog.act.org/2021/02/market-research-covid-19-effect-on-test-optional.html
Stay tuned! 👨🏻🏫 #пашагарвард

IELTS listening and how to score 8.0-9.0?🧐
Мой балл по секции listening составил 8.0 и сейчас я хочу предоставить вам несколько советов о том, как набрать высокие баллы по этой секции.
1. PRACTICE
Как бы банально не звучало, но practice makes perfect, therefore старайтесь делать как можно больше практис тестов для того, чтобы развивать навыки слушания. Самой большой ошибкой студентов, которые готовятся к listening, это то, что они делают практис тесты, но не стараются анализировать их. Look at your answers, find the mistake and analyse them! Помните, что без анализа ошибок и тщательной работы над ними, толку от практис тестов не будет👌🏻
2. VOCABULARY
Иногда бывает, что вы знаете ответ на вопрос в данной секции, но он у вас получается не правильным из-за некорректного spelling. Вы можете потерять баллы на ровном месте из-за того, что не правильно написали слово, поэтому читайте как можно больше academic texts, чтобы знать как пишется какое либо слово. Не стоит их заучивать - читая достаточное кол-во текстов, вы развиваете свою фотографическую память, тем самым запоминая глазами слово.
3. ENGLISH SPEAKING ENVIRONMENT
Исходя из своего опыта (ваша вторая админка фанатеет от нетфликс😂), могу смело говорить, что во время подготовки к таким международным тестам, не нужно отказывать себе в вещах, которые приносят счастье. So you can combine what you really like and preparing. In my case, я смотрела сериалы «Эйфория», «Дивный новый мир» на оригинале - на английском языке. Вы тоже можете смотреть ваши любимые фильмы и сериалы на английском языке и даже если там не будет ничего академического и полезного для вашей подготовки, вы погрузитесь в English-speaking среду, тем самым развивая навыки понимая разных слов, диалектов, акцентов и так далее. This combination is called EDUTAINMENT, which means EDUCATION + ENTERTAINMENT😉

How to prepare for reading or is it possible to get 8.5+ in reading?
Actually, reading is the part that many people struggle to get high scores. But, THERE IS A SOLUTION FOR IT...
To get an overall view about this section of IELTS,first, let's look at the structure of the test.
- You'll be given 60 minutes to complete whole section without any additional time for transferring the answer.
- There are 40 questions with 14 question types.
So how to prepare for reading?
Before starting any practice test, work on your general english. The most effective way to understand the meaning of the looong texts is to read books. Choosing the compatible level of book, you might need to analyze. Ask yourself what is the main purpose of the text? What is going on? What is the main topic?
Active reading❕❕❕
If I say you read a text in a wrong way, I mean you don't analyze it.
What is an active reading then?
- Highlighting the key words(dates, names, repeated words)
- Make an analysis on each paragraph of a text by asking these questions:
What is this paragraph about? Who's the main character/object?
As I mentioned above, there are about 14 question types that range from TRUE/FALSE/NOT GIVEN to Flow chart filling.
Therefore before doing any practice, get introduced with the questions.
WORK ON EACH QUESTION TYPE EVERY DAY UNTIL YOU UNDERSTAND THE STRATEGY‼️‼️
Spend at least an hour for reading(it can be not only IELTS READING, but also general reading). Mainly don't forget to surround yourself with ENGLISH.
THERE ARE SOME SITES THAT HAS BUNCH OF ARTICLES TO READ ABOUT.
Shhh... Actually IELTS creators take some texts from these sites🤫
- sciencedaily.com( the important one)
- NEW YORK TIMES
- NATURE MAGAZINE
- ATLANTIC

Recently, I came across with this book that became my favorite one I've read so far.
So, if you desire to boost your vocabulary and simultaneously improve your writing and reading, then I recommend you to read it.
You won't regret, I dare you😁
