❗️The russian Armed Forces carried out an air strike on Severodonetsk, hitting a tank with nitric acid at a chemical plant, the head of the Luhansk Region, Sergei Gaidai, said, urging residents of the region not to leave their shelters.
"Effect on humans: nitric acid is dangerous if inhaled, swallowed and in contact with the skin and mucous membranes.
Acid vapors are irritating to the respiratory tract. With mild poisoning, there are signs of bronchitis, mild bronchiolitis, dizziness, drowsiness; in severe poisoning - pulmonary edema. To protect against vapors and mist of nitric acid, gas masks are used. Prepare protective face masks soaked in soda solution. When applied locally to the eyes, nitric acid causes a severe lesion with large necrosis of the cornea and conjunctiva, which leads to loss of vision," wrote Gaidai
