Asalamualaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu

We pray you are well and in the best of eemaan. Alhamdulilah we have been blessed to live until this month where our rewards are multiplied and good deeds have been made easy.

We know that things are difficult right now for people, but we must appeal to you all for funds for the masjid. We recently completed an emergency appeal to raise £25,000. This was our shortfall this year gone by.

However what this doesn’t cover is the cost and the shortfall for the year to come - which will be an estimated £48,000. In general the minimum wage has risen and so have all the bills. And the masjid always runs a deficit; with repair and maintenance costs increasing.

But as it is Ramadhaan now - we wanted to launch the appeal to make everyone aware of the reality - and to also take this situation as a positive opportunity to gain reward from Allah. As we know that in this month good deeds are multiplied - then whatever you can give now will sustain the masjid to come.

Your money goes towards:
1) Dawa and Lesson costs (such as venue hire, transport etc multiplied by 4 per week)
2) Quran school deficits with over 150 children learning Quran every week for three days
3) The tuition club with over 70 children and families benefitting from our support
4) the Saturday school with over 150 children learning their religion, quran and Arabic weekly.
5) The dawa stall done multiple times per month in central Manchester and at other venues

These are a few things and the list can go on. But we hope everyone understands the reasons behind this need that we have and assists and contributes toward the dawah and masjid; and facilitating the worship of Allah.

If we can work together InshaaAllah we should be able to hit our target of £48,000.

Zakaah Distribution by the Salafi Centre of Manchester

The Masjid deals with and distributes the various types of Zakaah.

Zakaah (Zakaat Al Maal)

The masjid collects the legislated zakaah, for distribution to those eligible in various ways. Those categories of people are mentioned in the Qur’an in Surah At-Tawbah 9:60:

1) The very poor (fuqaraa)
2) The needy (masaakeen)
3) Those employed to collect the zakaah
4) To attract the hearts of those non-Muslims who are inclined towards Islam
5) Freeing captives
6) Helping those in genuine debt
7) To the governmental army of a Muslim country (done by the government only)
8) The traveller (wayfarer) to help him reach his destination

We try our utmost to distribute this money to the poor in our own community, people in debt, single mothers or fathers with children, who may have crippling debts and more.

As well as attempting to assist the local brothers and sisters, we also have good connections with trustworthy brothers and sisters in various countries.

Zakaat Al Fitr

Each year we appoint those whom we know and trust to distribute Zakaat al Fitr, which is the one saa’ of the staple food of the locality, per person given out before the end of Ramadhaan before Eid Prayer. We have trustworthy brothers who buy the products and give out in both the local community and many other places around the world. This amount is given as per the legislation and not in monetary value; and is done to help those who need help in distributing it. This must be given at the earliest time possible as there is a lot to arrange for. This year (2023) the amount comes to £3 in value, at the locations we are distributing it.

Fidyah

Finally we also collect and distribute fidyah- which are meal payments for those allowed in the legislation to pay in replacement for fasts- such as pregnant or breastfeeding women. This is the price of a meal which we value at £4.00 to cover.

“Whoever builds a masjid for the sake of Allah, Allah will build for him a house in jannah”.

Rewards for deeds are multiplied even greater in this blessed month.
