Vector bundles of coinvariants for vertex operator algebras

🗓 Thursday, 8 October, 13:30–15:00
📍 Room MATH-209, New Uzbekistan University

Vertex operator algebras are the chiral algebras of two-dimensional conformal field theory, and their representations are closely tied to algebraic curves. Damiolini, Gibney and Tarasca recently showed that representations of rational, C₂-cofinite VOAs give vector bundles over the moduli space of stable genus-g curves with n marked points, generalizing the Verlinde bundles of affine Lie algebras at positive integral levels, and that these bundles are globally generated when the VOA is generated in degree one.

This talk extends the construction to nonrational, C₂-cofinite VOAs and gives a criterion for global generation beyond the degree-one case. Joint work with Viktor Alekseev and Avik Chakravarty.

Everyone is welcome.

Save the date! Dear Students and Faculty,
You are cordially invited to attend an upcoming Open Lecture hosted by the School of Humanities, Natural and Social Sciences.
Topic: Integrating Cross-Border Regions, Localizing Belt and Road Initiative: A Case Study of Chinese-Kazakh Borderlands
Speaker: Dr. Jingyi Dong (Postdoctoral Researcher, Department of Political Science, UWED)
Date: October 20, 2026
Time: 5:00 PM (17:00)
About the Lecture:
This lecture examines how policy changes under China's Belt and Road Initiative impact cross-border integration in the Chinese–Kazakh borderlands. Combining quantitative difference-in-differences analysis and qualitative case studies of Khorgos and Alashankou, the talk demonstrates how infrastructure projects enhance physical connectivity and economic exchange, while local actors leverage these projects for regional place-branding.
About the Speaker:
Dr. Jingyi Dong holds a Ph.D. in Public Policy from Nazarbayev University and an M.A. from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
