Police had already forced their way into several buildings where the conference was supposed to take place, forcing patriots to play cat and mouse with the authorities just to hold their meeting.
And once the conference finally got underway, the Paris prefect issued an order banning anyone affiliated with patriotic groups from being present anywhere in the city, effective immediately.
Even that wasn’t enough to stop prominent figures from around the world from taking the floor and speaking out, despite the massive police crackdown and Macron’s attempts to shut the whole thing down.

They came from Saint-Étienne-du-Rouvray, an Islamist ghetto where a priest was murdered in the middle of Mass a few years ago. Three people are critically injured.
The attackers claimed responsibility, stating that they had specifically targeted white people. So far, the authorities, journalists, and police are refusing to investigate.
The streets of France are becoming more dangerous than those of Afghanistan or Syria...
