Here’s why New Year is celebrated twice in Russia — from December 31 to January 1, and again from January 13 to 14.
So now, January 1 according to the old calendar falls on the night of January 13–14 — that’s how the Old New Year came to be, giving us another chance to gather with loved ones and make a wish!
Throughout the holidays, residents and visitors enjoyed concerts, plays, workshops, and film screenings. Holiday markets were open, and near the New Year trees, Father Frost and the Snow Maiden hosted lively shows and activities.

International Friendship Club Takes Centre Stage on Sirius Youth Day
On 28 June, the Sirius Federal Territory hosted Youth Day, the biggest summer celebration for young people. The International Friendship Club was in the spotlight of the program.
The club members spent the day full of activities, such as:
🏄🏼♀️SUP-boarding;
🏆starting their morning with a workout alongside renowned athletes;
🥁trying their hand at drumming;
⛰️mastering sports tourism;
🌿joining environmental initiatives.
Yet the highlight was the International Friendship Club’s presentation at the ‘Battle of Minds’ science show. One of the club’s leaders, Vasilina Pachina, a bioengineering undergraduate at the Sirius University of Science and Technology, gave a fascinating introduction to the club’s history, key areas of work and current projects. Most importantly, she spoke about the opportunities available to young people through the club, including language practice, cultural exchange and international projects.
Vasilina also shared details about the upcoming International Youth Festival, which is taking place in Yekaterinburg this September. The visitors learned about the Festival’s concept, its goals and ways to become involved.
Youth Day was not only a bright event, but another chance to meet new friends and like-minded peers. Join the International Friendship Club to learn, connect and shape the future together!

Международный клуб дружбы — в центре событий Дня молодёжи в Сириусе
28 июня на федеральной территории «Сириус» прошёл главный молодёжный праздник лета — День молодёжи. Международный клуб дружбы стал его активным участником.
Целый день активисты были включены в программу:
🏄🏼♀️ выходили на сапах в море;
🏆 начинали утро с зарядки с известными спортсменами;
🥁 пробовали себя в игре на барабанах;
⛰️ осваивали спортивный туризм;
🌿 и участвовали в экологических активностях.
Но главное — это презентация Международного клуба дружбы на научном шоу «Битва умов». Один из лидеров клуба Василина Пачина, студентка специалитета «Биоинженерия» Научно-технологического университета «Сириус», увлекательно рассказала гостям об истории создания клуба, его ключевых направлениях, действующих проектах и, главное, о тех возможностях, которые открываются перед молодыми людьми, включая языковую практику, культурный обмен и международные проекты.
Отдельное внимание Василина уделила предстоящему Международному фестивалю молодёжи, который пройдёт в сентябре в Екатеринбурге. Гости мероприятия узнали о концепции фестиваля, его целях и о том, как стать его частью.
День молодёжи стал для клуба не просто ярким событием, а ещё одной возможностью найти новых друзей и единомышленников. Присоединяйтесь к МКД, чтобы учиться, дружить и создавать будущее вместе!

The club members will be back in Sirius very soon. But while they are finishing their vacation, we decided to recollect the main event when in 2024 Sirius became the city of the world's youth. The closing ceremony of the World Youth Festival was held with the participation of the President of our country.
