M+ Global Market Update – 05Oct26
Markets Eye PMI Data For Fed Policy Cues
US: Despite Wall Street closing higher last Friday, investors will focus on the Services PMI and ISM Non-Manufacturing PMI later today for further clues on Fed policy. Stock-wise, investors could consider Akamai Technologies (AKAM), following its USD11.6bn, seven-year agreement with Anthropic to support distributed CPU workloads. We also like Intel (INTC), as Meta’s rollout of the Muse AI agent has heightened interest in data-centre CPU capabilities, potentially supporting demand for Intel’s Xeon 6. Lastly, we continue to favour Micron (MU) following its record 4QFY26 results and upbeat outlook, with equipment suppliers Lam Research (LRCX) and Applied Materials (AMAT) positioned to benefit from higher spending.
MY: Tracking Wall Street’s rebound, we expect the FBM KLCI to kick-start the week positively, with attention shifting towards the Budget 2027 announcement this Friday. We continue to favour HKB, backed by a record-high order book of RM851m (~6.8x FY25 revenue) and potential infrastructure-related initiatives in East Malaysia under Budget 2027. We also like ATE designer and manufacturer AEMULUS, supported by its 3QFY26 earnings turnaround and record-high RM122m order book (~1.5x FY25 revenue), driven by strong demand across the AI, data-centre and automotive industries.
Stocks to watch:
Technology: ATECH, *CORAZA*, JFTECH, *JHM*, NATGATE, *NOTION*, *QES*, SKPRES
Construction: *HEGROUP*, HKB
Healthcare: *SUPERMX*

M+ Global Market Update – 06Oct26
Attention Shifts To FOMC Meeting Minutes
US: Given the broadly in-line Services PMI and ISM Non-Manufacturing PMI data, attention will now shift towards the FOMC meeting minutes overnight Thursday. Stock-wise, we favour Amazon (AMZN), supported by its USD496bn AWS-related backlog and USD220bn 2026 CapEx outlook as it aggressively expands AI data-centre capacity amid strong cloud and AI demand. This should also benefit Astera Labs (ALAB), given its exposure to AWS’s next-generation Trainium infrastructure through its Aries Retimers and Scorpio Smart Fabric Switches. Hence, AMZN’s aggressive data-centre expansion should provide a strong demand tailwind for ALAB. Lastly, investors could also look at Arista Networks (ANET), supported by the rollout of its next-generation 1.6Tb networking platform for AI infrastructure.
MY: Locally, we expect investors to remain selective ahead of the Budget 2027 announcement, with attention centred on potential beneficiary sectors. M&E players could continue to see buying interest, supported by the government’s emphasis on AI infrastructure and TNB’s 500kV National Grid Backbone project, favouring companies such as MNHLDG, SCGBHD and POWERWELL. Efforts to reduce non-revenue water could also remain in focus, potentially benefiting companies such as ISF and RANHILL. Lastly, 99SMART could see renewed buying interest on expectations of higher consumer assistance allocations under SARA and STR.

Technology: CPETECH, *GREATEC*, ICENTS, *PENTECH*
Construction: AWC, *CBHB*, *CHEEDING*, *HEGROUP*
Gloves: *KOSSAN*, *SUPERMX*, TOPGLOV

Regional Strength Buoys Markets Ahead Of Budget
US: Wall Street may retain its constructive tone after the S&P 500 and Nasdaq reached fresh record highs, helped by easing Treasury yields and stabilising oil prices. AI remains a key earnings driver, with Marvell (MRVL) in focus after raising its FY2028 revenue target to USD20.0bn and guiding FY2031 revenue to USD70.0–90.0bn, underpinned by strong demand for custom AI silicon and optical connectivity. Meanwhile, Salesforce (CRM) could benefit from renewed strength in enterprise software as concerns over AI disruption ease, while Meta (META) continues expanding its AI offerings to businesses through its Meta Enterprise Platform.
MY: On the local front, the FBMKLCI is poised to track global tech strength, with sentiment supported by robust earnings and positioning ahead of Budget 2027 on 9 October. The semiconductor and automation space could remain in focus, with semiconductors, AI and high-value investments among the Government’s key priorities. UWC stands out after 4QFY26 revenue jumped 71.1% to RM186.2m, while net profit surged 129.7%, reflecting stronger semiconductor demand and project execution. M+ Global Market Update – 08Oct26
FOMC Minutes Fuel Rate Hike Concerns
US: Elevated Treasury yields and renewed rate-hike concerns could keep investors cautious, following FOMC minutes which showed that most participants assessed another rate increase would likely be appropriate by year-end. With the 10-year Treasury yield near 5.3%, defensive positioning could persist, although AI-related names with strong earnings visibility may remain resilient. FLEX stands out after raising its FY27 adjusted EPS guidance to USD4.42–4.74, implying 39% YoY growth at the midpoint, while its planned Axiom spin-off and USD2.0bn strategic investment further reinforce its AI infrastructure exposure. Meanwhile, Amazon (AMZN) could remain in focus ahead of the FCC’s 29 October vote on a proposal to advance a 25MHz spectrum auction to support direct-to-device satellite services.
MY: On the local front, we expect domestic equities to remain selective ahead of Budget 2027 on 9 October, with infrastructure and earnings visibility in focus. HKB could attract interest following a sharp 3QFY26 recovery, with revenue rising 93.4% YoY to RM49.5m and net profit reaching RM3.0m, while its order book has expanded to about RM851m. Meanwhile, JTGROUP offers fresh power infrastructure exposure after securing RM15.7m in TNB contracts for underground cable works and a submarine power cable monitoring system, bringing its unbilled order book to RM1.1bn.

M+ Global Market Update – 09Oct26
AI Monetisation and Budget 2027 In Focus
US: Investors may scrutinise AI monetisation following reports that OpenAI's annualised revenue reached approximately USD50bn as of September, below the USD70bn reportedly indicated to investors. While differing revenue accounting methods may partly explain the gap, the report could intensify scrutiny over AI investment returns despite OpenAI's recent global GPT-6 rollout. Bitdeer (BTDR) remains in focus after securing offtake commitments covering over 70% of its 21.7MW A201 data centre in Johor, lifting its expected AI Cloud revenue backlog to USD2.9bn, with energisation targeted for 1Q2027.
MY: Budget 2027 takes centre stage today, with investors monitoring measures to support strategic industries and household spending. UWC could attract attention after proposing a placement of up to 5% of its issued shares to raise RM384.1m for manufacturing expansion, working capital and debt repayment, although potential EPS dilution remains a concern. DNeX could benefit from resolving its long-standing dispute with CGP over SilTerra, removing a key legal overhang. Meanwhile, LWSABAH has proposed a RM15m industrial property acquisition in Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park to support expansion. Additionally, 99SMART could benefit from higher SARA and STR allocations under Budget 2027, potentially boosting spending at value retailers.
