M+ Market Update – 06Jun25
All Eyes On Jobs Data
US: While the long-awaited call between President Trump and President Xi yielded a positive signal, Wall Street declined, dragged down by losses in Tesla after Trump proposed ending the company’s government contracts and subsidies. However, Trump’s renegotiation of the CHIPS Act could pave the way for more palatable chip export policies — a potential neutral to positive outcome for key players like NVIDIA and AMD. On a separate note, traders will closely monitor US job growth for clues on how recent protectionist trade policies may impact the broader economy. In the commodities market, Brent crude and gold remained stable at around USD64/bbl and USD3,360/oz respectively, while CPO prices rebounded to RM3,921/MT.
MY: Tracking Wall Street’s overnight weakness, the local bourse may trade on a softer tone. Nonetheless, growing power demand from data centre investments, coupled with the ongoing NETR masterplan and Tenaga’s expanding CapEx, could bode well for utility players like GASMSIA, MNHLDG, and KJTS. In addition, the Construction and Property sectors remain upbeat, supported by active land banking and data centre developments. We favour construction counters like INTA and BNASTRA, given their long-standing relationships with major developers.
Stocks to watch:

O&G: DELEUM, *HAWK*
Technology: *ADB*, FPI

M+ Market Update – 09Jun25
Market Poised For A Positive Session
US: Wall Street gained momentum last week as stronger-than-expected US jobs data offset concerns over slower economic growth. Meanwhile, with the US-China talks expected in London, the market may extend its positive tone. On a side note, the strained Trump-Elon relationship could dampen near term sentiment on Tesla, but the anticipation of the Trump administration’s overhaul of the CHIPS Act may serve as a catalyst for major players like NVIDIA and AMD. In the commodities market, Brent Crude rebounded near USD66/bbl, while both Gold and CPO retreated to USD3,316/oz and RM3,917/MT, respectively.
MY: With the KLCI rebounded from 1,500 last week and undemanding valuations at ~14x (Long term average: 17x), the local bourse is poised to open higher, tracking Wall Street’s gains. Meanwhile, (i) rising power demand from data centres, (ii) government initiatives like NETR and (iii) TNB’s CapEx expansion could boost MNHLDG and KJTS. We remain positive on REITs, supported SUNREIT’s breakout and the sector’s healthy yields of over ~4%. Lastly, we favour construction players such as INTA, given its strong ties to major developers like Gamuda, backed active land banking.
Stocks to watch:
Construction: *INTA*, KERJAYA, SUNCON
REIT: *IGBREIT*, SUNREIT
Plantation: *INNO*

M+ Market Update – 11Jun25
US-China Trade Talks in Focus
US: Wall Street ended on a positive note as US-China trade negotiations continued. We expect the talks to yield favourable outcomes, supporting a near to mid-term uptrend in US equities. Meanwhile, OpenAI’s integration of Google’s cloud service marks a significant win for Google, further mitigating competitive risks. This move also underscores robust demand in the AI space, suggesting sustained momentum for AI-themed stocks. This week, traders will closely monitor CPI and PPI data to assess the impact of Trump’s trade policies. On the commodities market, both Brent oil and CPO retreated towards USD66/bbl and RM3,868/MT, respectively, while Gold remained flat at USD3,322.
MY: With the KLCI trading at a discounted P/E of ~14x (long-term average: 17x), the local bourse is poised to open higher, tracking Wall Street resilient overnight performance. Also, the highly anticipated US-China trade talks may buoy sentiment for the Technology sector, with key focus on sub-sectors tied to EMS and possibly E&E. Do note that, the tech sector index has rebounded more than 30% throughout the past 2 months. For a more defensive play, we like SUNREIT, as Bloomberg consensus anticipates DPU growth driven by active asset acquisitions. Also, the REIT sector has a healthy ~3% YTD performance and stable dividend payouts.
