We bring you 2️⃣ heartwarming❣ intergenerational stories πŸ‘΅πŸΌπŸ‘§πŸ» for a good read this evening. πŸ“–πŸŒ
There are endless possibilities when it comes to teaching our young ones. πŸ‘¦πŸ»πŸ‘§πŸ» Winner of the Outstanding Early Childhood Teacher πŸ‘©πŸ»β€πŸ« Award πŸ†, Amanda Yap from The Little Skool House International, believes in engaging her preschoolers through intentional play 🧩, where learning πŸ“š takes place all the time.

For her, β€˜The Three Little Pigs 🐷 β€˜ is not a mere fable but a fun way to teach the children hypothesis testing, problem solving skills, and even material properties!

The greatest joys 😊 of teaching for Amanda are the improvements she sees her children make, and one of her proudest moments was when β€˜a very introverted child’ took the first step πŸ‘£ of initiating a conversation πŸ’¬ with her peers, even if it was just a simple β€˜hello’ πŸ™‹πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸ‘‹

Every fortnight, the halls of Thye Hua Kwan Nursing Home 🏑 bustle with the chatter of residents and students πŸ‘΄πŸΌπŸ§’πŸ» from Xinmin Secondary School as they engage in various activities together such as origami and playing carrom, as part of the school’s Values In Action project aimed at nurturing a deeper sense of empathy for the elderly. πŸ‘¦πŸ»πŸ’•πŸ‘΄πŸΌ

Besides THK Nursing Home, the students also get to visit seniors at the NTUC Health’s Day Centre for Seniors (Silver Circle), and cultivate meaningful friendships with them. 🀝

This is a great example of how we can collaborate as a community to bring together different generations, and we hope it has inspired πŸ’‘ you! Stay tuned πŸ“Ί as we bring you more exciting updates next week. πŸ™ŒπŸΌ
Last weekend, more than 1000 seniors πŸ‘΄πŸ»πŸ‘΅πŸ» and young volunteers πŸ§‘πŸ»πŸ‘©πŸ» gathered for the Go for Your Mountain (GYM) event to climb up πŸ₯Ύ Mount Faber ⛰️ together and make a statement that age is just a number and seniors can conquer the mountains.

Led by charity Empower Ageing and social enterprise ProAge, this intergenerational event aims to raise awareness about empowered, inclusive and positive ageing to build a more age-inclusive and caring society. πŸ‘΄πŸ»πŸ’–πŸ‘©πŸ»

Hooray πŸ₯³ to all the GYM participants for making it to the peak of Mount Faber and accomplishing your goal! πŸŽ–
