#LetsMeet Crystal Choy, 24, who has been volunteering at SSO @ Bukit Merah, to assist people who need help with their COVID-19 Support Grant applications.
“The applications can be done entirely online, but some older Singaporeans still prefer to come down to the SSOs for assistance as they don’t know how to fill up the application form online. I’ve encountered people from all walks of life whom I don’t usually meet. This experience has opened my eyes to reality; that not all Singaporeans have internet access or laptops at home.
As I’m more tech-savvy, I want to give back to society by helping them. This is a time when Singaporeans need to be there for one another, and stand united.”

2 years ago, Adam (not his real name) was placed on 18 months’ probation for criminal intimidation and voluntarily causing hurt. While on probation, he struggled to break free from drug use and had a son whom he was denied access to by his ex-girlfriend.
Adam’s turning point came when he decided to take probation seriously and did community service at a faith-based agency, where he was guided and counselled by a religious teacher. He also landed a full-time job with supportive supervisors and colleagues who made him feel included.
Gradually, Adam found a sense of direction in his life, and went on to excel at both work and National Service. Today, he has successfully completed his Probation Order.
Want to make a difference in the lives of probationers, youths and others that we work with? Come volunteer with us at: http://go.gov.sg/volunteerwithmsf

It’s Father’s Day today, #LetsMeet Ian Lee, 39, a financial advisor and father of a 5-year-old son.
"During the circuit breaker, being with my son all day – instead of the usual three to four hours a day – had its bittersweet moments, but this was definitely more sweet than bitter.
My wife and I initially didn’t understand why he would throw tantrums over trivial issues, so we attended an online parenting workshop which taught us to ask him questions after he calms down. Now, we understand why he gets worked up, and can help him to communicate his feelings better.
We want to be good friends and parents that he can confide in when he's in trouble or when he feels down. I love being a hands-on father, and spending more time with him has actually made me want to have more kids!"
Wishing all Dads a Happy Father’s Day today! For tips and resources to keep your dad game strong, visit www.family.org.sg/StrongerwithDad.

#LetsMeet Choo Li Ying, 25, Chief Operating Officer at Hatch, a social enterprise that runs job training and matching programmes in digital and design fields.
“We work with young adults from many walks of life, and one of the groups with enormous potential are probationers referred through MSF. Building trust and rapport with them has been a consistent challenge, as many have been scarred from past instances where others have betrayed their trust. To get around this, we invest a lot of time and energy to connect with them, and understand their interests to match them to suitable companies.
It is really heartening to journey through life with our students and alumni. For us, success rehabilitation is measured by attitude, progress, and the effort they put into their work.”

COVID-19 may have created new challenges for Persons with Autism and/or Intellectual Disabilities. Precautionary measures such as staying home, wearing masks and practising safe distancing may seem foreign to them, particularly if it breaks their sense of routine and familiarity. They may also struggle to understand and observe such measures while outdoors.
Let’s do our part to look out for our Persons with Autism and/or Intellectual Disabilities friends during this time. For more tips and information on how:
