πŸ—£ Previously at PM Lee’s NDR speech, we showed you what the preschool subsidies were all about.

πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§β€πŸ‘¦ Today, Minister Desmond Lee announced more details. Here’s how the subsidies will benefit more families!

πŸ’°The Basic Subsidy of $300 will be given to ALL families. You can also qualify for the Additional Subsidy if your monthly household income is below $12,000.

πŸ“ The infographic explains the subsidies in detail.

πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§β€πŸ‘¦ Parents can look forward to more support on their parenthood journey with enhanced preschool subsidies!

πŸ‘ΆπŸ» For childcare and infant care, we have the Basic Subsidy and Additional Subsidy.

πŸ‘§πŸ»πŸ‘¦πŸ» For kindergarten, we have the Kindergarten Fee Assistance Scheme (KiFAS).

We answer some of your questions here:

1. What subsidies do my family qualify forβ“πŸ’°
All families of Singaporean children at any childcare centre will receive a Basic Subsidy. For full-day childcare, the Basic Subsidy is $300 (for working mothers) or $150 (for non-working mothers). There is no change to the Basic Subsidy.

2. Does my family qualify for Additional Subsidyβ“πŸ’°πŸ’΅
Today, working mothers with monthly household income of $7,500 and less can receive the Additional Subsidy based on income level. From January 2020, the income ceiling will be raised to $12,000.

3. Does the childcare centre/kindergarten which my child is attending affect the Additional Subsidyβ“πŸ’°πŸ’΅πŸ
As long as your child is enrolled with an ECDA-licensed childcare centre, you may qualify for the Additional Subsidy based on your monthly household income. However, Kindergarten Fee Assistance Scheme (KiFAS) is applicable only at Anchor Operators Kindergartens (e.g PCF) or MOE Kindergartens.
