Dear student,
We are happy to inform you that the university library has launched a new digital reading platform. With this service, you can read e-books and journals online. We would like to know: do you prefer reading online or borrowing printed books? Also, what kind of books or resources should we add to the platform?
— University Library Team

Task 1.1 – Informal Letter

Write a letter to your friend about the new digital library. Say whether you prefer online reading or printed books, and suggest one book or resource you think students might enjoy. Write at least 50 words.

Task 1.2 – Formal Letter

🇬🇧Ingliz tilidagi qisqartmalarni bilasizmi?

Ingliz tilida, ayniqsa Speaking va kundalik suhbatlarda, so‘zlar ko‘pincha tez talaffuz qilinib, qisqargan shaklda eshitiladi:

🔹 got + to → gotta — kerak / majbur bo‘lmoq

🔹 going + to → gonna — qilmoqchi bo‘lmoq

🔹 want + to → wanna — xohlamoq

🔹 have + to → hafta — majbur bo‘lmoq

🔹 kind + of → kinda — biroz / qandaydir

🔹 give + me → gimme — menga ber

🔹 let + me → lemme — menga ruxsat ber

🔹 don’t + know → dunno — bilmayman

🔹 what + is → what’s — nima...?

🎯Muhim: yuqoridagi kabi shakllar asosan norasmiy nutqda ishlatiladi. Formal Writingda esa to‘liq shakllarni ishlatish kerak.

💬Siz kundalik ingliz tilida qaysi qisqartmani eng ko‘p eshitasiz❓

🎙 Speaking Part 1.1 sample answers:

🔵1. What do you do after school or work?

After work, I usually try to recharge both mentally and physically. I often spend some time reading articles or watching educational videos to improve my English and broaden my knowledge. Besides that, I enjoy listening to music because it helps me relax after a busy day. If I still have enough energy, I go for a short walk or talk with my close friends online. I believe it is very important to maintain a balance between productivity and relaxation, so I always try to use my free time meaningfully instead of wasting it on unimportant things.

🔵2. Tell me about your favorite singer.

My favorite singer is Adele because her voice is incredibly powerful and emotional. What I admire most about her is the way she expresses deep feelings through her songs, which makes her music relatable to millions of people around the world. In addition, her lyrics are meaningful and often tell realistic stories about love, heartbreak, and personal growth. Whenever I feel stressed or emotionally overwhelmed, I listen to her songs because they create a calming atmosphere and help me reflect on my thoughts. I think she is not only talented but also genuinely inspiring.

🔵3. What animal do you like?

The animal I like the most is the cat. I find cats extremely intelligent, independent, and graceful. Unlike some other pets, they do not constantly demand attention, but they can still be very affectionate with their owners. I especially enjoy the calm and peaceful energy they bring into a home. Moreover, cats are quite entertaining because their behavior is often funny and unpredictable. In my opinion, taking care of a pet also teaches people responsibility and patience. That is one of the reasons why I would love to have a cat in the future if I have enough time to look after it properly.
