Not your keys, not your crypto.

You hear it all the time, but it may feel abstract, irrelevant.

This is what it looks like when it happens: Binance and Celsius blocking withdrawals because they hold your coins and they decide when you can take them. Just like a bank.

Of course there are times you need to have some tokens on exchanges when you are actively swapping them.

But holding substantial amounts of crypto on exchanges for an extended time means you never know when your access to your coins will be blocked, frozen or removed.

Non-custodial wallets like MEW don't hold your coins, can't freeze your accounts, can't block your transactions.

No matter what is happening in the market and in the world, you are in full control of your crypto.

Creating a MEW wallet and transferring your ETH/ERC20 from an exchange takes 5 minutes.

The sooner you regain control of your assets the better. Because as we saw today - and many times before - you never know when it will be too late.

In light of recent events at Voyager & 3AC, self-custody is sounding better and better, even if you do need to take good care of your phrase. Looks like it might be worth it in the long run πŸ‘€
