The NTUSU Welfare Initiatives Committee (WIC) is proud to present their newest event Share the Happiness: In Collaboration with Singapore Children’s Society!

Share the Happiness is a new welfare initiative that aims to raise funds and collect donations in-kind for the underprivileged communities in Singapore. Today, Children's Society operates 12 service centres islandwide, offering services in the four categories of: Vulnerable Children and Youth, Children and Youth Services, Family Services, and Research and Advocacy.

With rising sea levels and temperatures, as well as the increased threat of plastic pollution and ocean acidification, find out how our local marine life has been affected and the preventative measures taken to curb further damage.

Join us on campus as we hear the views of various prominent speakers from the marine conservation scene in our panel discussion, co-organised by NTU Scuba Diving Team and NTU Earthlink. Our guest speakers include Dr. Stephen Summers, a research fellow of SCELSE, Dr. Cheo Pei Rong, the biodiversity manager of the Marine & Coastal Branch under National Parks Board and Mr. Stephen Beng, chair of the Marine Conservation Group of Nature Society Singapore.

Date: 19th Feb 2020, Wednesday
Time: 6pm-7:30pm (Registration opens at 5:30pm)

What are some precautionary measures the school and NTUSU have undertaken in light of COVID-19?

The school has implemented several measures in light of the COVID-19 situation. These include precautions to safeguard students' health and safety:

- Mandatory Temperature Taking exercise
- Temperature Screening Stations around school with higher human traffic
- Movement to Online Classes for classes with more than 50 people
- Events limited to 50 participants within the venue
- Organisers instructed to ensure minimal interaction and contact between participants
- Tour agencies informed to refrain from bringing tourists into campus premises

While other precautionary measures taken to aid in contact tracing should potential cases arise:

- Venue QR Code Scanning
- Update of contact information and travel declaration

Additionally, NTUSU has also been in weekly meetings with the school management to address students' feedback and concerns. For one, NTUSU has requested for additional sanitation measures for high volume areas like tutorial rooms and canteens and this has been implemented by the university.

NTUSU will continue to provide regular updates and inform students to adopt additional precautionary measures, where necessary, while ensuring minimal disruptions to students’ daily activities.
