The Eisenhower Tunnel, officially the Eisenhower–Edwin C. Johnson Memorial Tunnel,[1] is a dual-bore, four-lane vehicular tunnel in the western United States, approximately 60 miles (97 km) west of Denver, Colorado. The tunnel carries Interstate 70 (I-70) under the Continental Divide in the Rocky Mountains. With a maximum elevation of 11,158 feet (3,401 m) above sea level, it is one of the highest vehicular tunnels in the world. The tunnel is the longest mountain tunnel and highest point on the Interstate Highway System. Opened in 1973, the westbound bore is named after Dwight D. Eisenhower, the U.S. President for whom the Interstate system is also named. The eastbound bore was completed in 1979 and is named for Edwin C. Johnson, a Colorado governor and U.S. Senatorwho lobbied for an Interstate Highway to be built across Colorado.

Pituffik Space Base (/biːduːˈfiːk/ bee-doo-FEEK;[2]Greenlandic: [pitufːik]; IATA: THU, ICAO: BGTL), formerly and perhaps better known as Thule Air Base (/ˈtuːliː/), is a United States Space Force base located on the northwest coast of Greenland in the Kingdom of Denmark under a defense agreement between Denmark and the United States. Denmark was a founding member of NATO in 1949 and the 1951 Greenland Defense Agreement allowed the United States to operate the base under a NATO framework. Under the agreement the Danish national flag must be side by side with the US national flag on the base.

SBD 1 is responsible for Peterson Space Force Base, Schriever Space Force Base, and Cheyenne Mountain Space Force Station in Colorado; Pituffik Space Base in Greenland; New Boston Space Force Station in New Hampshire; and Kaena Point Space Force Station in Hawaii.[5]
SBD 1 was formerly known as the Peterson-Schriever Garrison (P-S GAR) until its redesignation to Space Base Delta 1 on May 23, 2022.[6] P-S GAR was activated on 24 July 2020, replacing the 21st Space Wing (based at the then Peterson Air Force Base) and the 50th Space Wing(based at the then Schriever Air Force Base).
