U.S. President Donald J. Trump spoke to the Financial Times today, and told them that he had no plans to resume large-scale strikes on Iran in the near term. Per the report, President Trump, as some have assessed before, is seemingly in no rush to resume strikes, as the current dynamic, that continues to beggar Iran’s economy and limit their leverage of the strategically important Strait of Hormuz, is amenable to the administration’s current outlook.

Trump reiterated comments that both the U.S. and Israel stand operationally ready to resume strikes, but added that “there may be no reason for it.”

The report comes as polls close across the U.S. as Democrats are expected to sweep congressional races tonight.
