Eine unabhängige internationale Kommission der UNO ist zu dem Schluss gekommen, dass Israel im gesamten besetzten palästinensischen Gebiet Kriegsverbrechen und Verbrechen gegen die Menschlichkeit begangen hat, darunter Völkermord, Verfolgung, Folter, Vergewaltigungen und andere Formen sexueller Gewalt, und dass der Völkermord im Gazastreifen andauert.
In ihrem heutigen Bericht stellt die Kommission fest, dass die israelischen Militäroperationen und die Gewalttaten von Siedlern im besetzten Westjordanland seit dem 7. Oktober 2023 Teil einer groß angelegten und systematischen Kampagne gegen die palästinensische Zivilbevölkerung geworden sind.
Der Bericht wirft den israelischen Streitkräften zudem vor, gezielt auf palästinensische Kinder zu schießen, sexuelle Gewalt einzusetzen, um die Bevölkerung einzuschüchtern und zu vertreiben, sowie die territoriale Kontrolle durch Zwangsräumungen auszuweiten. Bis August 2026 waren im Westjordanland weiterhin mehr als 34.000 Palästinenser vertrieben.
Im Gazastreifen kamen die Ermittler zu dem Schluss, dass israelische Streitkräfte trotz des Waffenstillstandsabkommens weiterhin Völkermordhandlungen begingen, darunter Tötungen und Verletzungen von Zivilisten in der Nähe der sogenannten „gelben Linie“.
Die Kommission kritisierte zudem die Palästinensische Autonomiebehörde für die Unterdrückung abweichender Meinungen und für ihr Versagen, Missbräuche durch ihre Sicherheitskräfte zu untersuchen.
Die Kommission forderte Israel nachdrücklich auf, die Besatzung zu beenden, die Siedlungen aufzulösen und das beschlagnahmte palästinensische Land zurückzugeben. Zudem forderte sie die Palästinensische Autonomiebehörde auf, die Verstöße zu untersuchen und die Opfer zu entschädigen.
