How to Write Your First Research Paper/Article🤩 🔤 🔤
Writing your first research paper can seem daunting, but with a step-by-step approach, it becomes manageable and even enjoyable.
Step 1: Identify a Suitable Journal
🔹Before writing, identify a research journal that matches your topic.
🔹Check the journal’s aim and scope, impact factor or indexing (UGC CARE, Scopus, etc.).
🔹Ensure your topic fits their theme and subject area.
Step 2: Review Sample Papers
🔺Read 2–3 previously published papers in that journal.
🔺Observe their format, writing style, and referencing style (APA, MLA, Chicago, etc.).
Step 3: Prepare Your Paper Structure
Create an outline with the following sections:
1.Title (clear and focused)
2. Abstract (summary of the entire paper)
3. Keywords (4–5 words relevant to your paper)
4. Introduction (background and context)
5. Review of Literature (past studies and research gap)
6. Objectives and Research Questions (1–2 clear points)
7. Methodology (methods, tools, sample size, and research area)
8. Findings and Analysis (data interpretation – if applicable)
9. Conclusion and Recommendations (summary and future scope)
10. References (accurate and ethically cited)
Step 4: Start with the Abstract
▫️Though it appears first, write it after you complete the paper.
▫️Make it precise, clear, and impactful—editors often accept/reject papers based on the abstract.
Step 5: Write the Introduction
▪️Explain the historical and social context of your topic.
▪️Build a logical flow toward your problem statement.
Step 6: Review of Literature
♦️Summarize key works already done in your area.
♦️Identify the gap in existing research.
♦️Explain how your study fills that gap.
Step 7: Define Objectives & Research Questions
🔶Mention 1–2 clear objectives.
🔶Add 2–3 research questions that guide your paper.
Step 8: Methodology Section
🔹Clearly explain the research design, tools, population, techniques, and data collection methods used.
🔹This builds the credibility of your research.
Step 9: Conclusion & Recommendations
▪️Summarize your findings and implications.
▪️Offer recommendations for future researchers or practitioners.
Step 10: References
🔸Use a standard citation style.
Ensure all sources are properly cited to avoid plagiarism.
🔸Use tools like Zotero, Mendeley, or Google Scholar for reference management.

ii. Avoid copying content; originality is key.
iii. Ask a mentor or senior to proofread your draft.
