threading é pra deixar uma função rodando em background e continuar seguindo o código.. Exemplo:
from threading import Thread
def printar(x)
print x
while True:
pass
t_printar = Thread(target=printar(), args=["teste"])
Ou seja, o Thread é um decorador, recebe como argumento uma função (e seus argumentos, se ela precisar de algum). Agora, a função t_printar é a thread da funçaõ printar. Para iniciar, é só usar
t_printar.start()
Assim, o printar() vai ficar rodando em background e o código vai continuar
