Kazakhstan Delegation Participates in the Opening of the 81st Session of the UN General Assembly
New York, September 22, 2026 - The delegation of Kazakhstan, headed by Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mukhtar Tileuberdi, is participating in the High-Level Week of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The theme of this year’s session is “Restoring Trust, Managing Transformations: A UN That Works for All.” Key issues on the agenda include maintaining peace and security, accelerating progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals, addressing climate change and protecting the environment, human rights, digital technologies, and artificial intelligence.
The Head of the Kazakh delegation will deliver a statement during the General Debate of the UN General Assembly, presenting Kazakhstan’s approaches to addressing pressing issues on the international agenda and its vision for strengthening multilateral cooperation.
Particular attention will be given to the theme of constructive development in the context of global transformations, including Kazakhstan’s experience in fostering a culture of environmental responsibility, promoting volunteerism, strengthening the rule of law and solidarity, as well as enhancing social cohesion.
On the sidelines of the High-Level Week, meetings will be held with the UN leadership and heads of UN agencies, as well as representatives of the OSCE, the International Committee of the Red Cross, and others. The programme also includes a series of bilateral meetings with the Foreign Ministers of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Hungary, Jordan, Canada, Cyprus, Kuwait, Moldova, Poland, Russia, Slovenia, Ukraine, Switzerland, El Salvador, and other countries.
The delegation will also participate in ministerial meetings of the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), and the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), as well as meetings of Landlocked Developing Countries and the Group of Friends of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations. The programme also includes thematic side events focusing on transit and transport cooperation and investment, environmental issues, and digitalization.
During the new session of the UN General Assembly, Kazakhstan will continue to advance its priorities in the areas of peace and security, sustainable development, nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation, the water and environmental agenda, human rights, artificial intelligence and digital cooperation, as well as enhancing the effectiveness of the global organization. It should be noted that the establishment of an International Water Organization and an International Agency for Biological security remain among Kazakhstan’s priority initiatives within the UN framework.

В ходе встреч обсуждены актуальные вопросы двустороннего сотрудничества, перспективы расширения политического диалога и торгово-экономических связей, а также состоялся обмен мнениями по ключевым вопросам международной и региональной повестки.
Отдельные встречи состоялись с Генеральным секретарем ООН по торговле и развитию (ЮНКТАД), кандидатом на должность Генерального секретаря ООН Ребеккой Гринспан и Генеральным директором ЮНЕСКОХаледом аль-Анани.
🔹On the first day of the High-Level Week of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mukhtar Tileuberdi held a series of bilateral meetings and took part in multilateral events.
Talks were held with foreign ministers Anita Orbán of Hungary, Mihai Popșoi of Moldova, Radosław Sikorski of Poland, Tone Kajzer of Slovenia, Andrii Sybiha of Ukraine, and Alexandra Hill Tinoco of El Salvador.
The meetings focused on current issues of bilateral cooperation, prospects for expanding political dialogue and trade and economic ties, as well as an exchange of views on key issues on the international and regional agenda.
Separate meetings were held with UN Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), as well as candidate for the position of UN Secretary-General Rebecca Grynspan, and Director-General of UNESCO Khaled El-Enany.

As part of the multilateral programme, the head of Kazakhstan’s foreign policy agency participated in the ministerial meeting “Renewal and Focus: The UN We Need 5 Years from Now” dedicated to the prospects for the development of the United Nations and its adaptation to contemporary global challenges.
An important outcome of the first day was the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Central African Republic. The heads of the foreign ministries of the two countries signed a Joint Communiqué, confirming their mutual interest in developing bilateral ties and cooperation on international platforms.
The busy programme of the first day continued the practical implementation of Kazakhstan’s foreign policy priorities aimed at expanding bilateral cooperation, strengthening multilateral diplomacy, and enhancing the effectiveness of engagement within the United Nations framework.
