Protocol Metric Update
- RAILGUN is about to hit half a billion in total contract volume it's very likely this milestone will be hit before the end of September. ✨🚀🥳
- TVL is at ~$12 million on all chains which is close to the old all time high. Hopefully this will also be smashed with the 500 mil mark.
Protocol growth during the depths of a bear market is a strong sign (with value accrual of growth going out to $RAIL stakers). Contributors will continue pushing private DeFi forward through integrations and protocol upgrades.
If you use RAILGUN on the regular, tell your privacy conscious crypto friends and help boost the anon set. There are also some updates due this week so stay tuned for more info.

RAILGUN just hit 💯 💯 💯 💯 💯 million dollars in total platform volume 🥂 🥳 and TVL is hovering around ATHs. It's not uncommon to see 15-20 million dollar weeks and hopefully with enough time these numbers will look small.
Adoption of the contracts is growing during the depths of a bear market which is a strong sign of product market fit. Reminder that protocol fees are paid out to those with staked $RAIL to encourage active participation in governance and further engagement with the protocol. ZK Compliance
There's been a ton of work being put into standing up the first ever zkp based compliance mechanism for RAILGUN. The work for this started back in February. To see so much press and discussion around the topic has been really cool. There was even a whitepaper about this mechanism written by Vitalik etc. about it.
The complexity of the infrastructure, cryptography, networking, etc behind this market leading feature is extremely high.
V3 RAILGUN Smart Contracts
Again, there's a lot of research, and dev-ing on a new contract schema. This has been highlighted in previous updates.
These new contracts will:
- Make it easier than ever to build with and integrate RAILGUN.
- Make it CHEAPER than ever to do RAILGUN transactions
- Open a path to a new accumulator scheme
AdaptRelay Development
New AdaptRelay contracts are going to unlock Cookbook Recipes that have been done. These have been in R&D now by contributors for a while now and are starting to really shape up. Get ready for even more private DeFi capabilities like lending and perps.

2023 has been a strong year for RAILGUN adoption. The contracts have done hundreds of millions in volume and 10-20 million dollar volume weeks are not uncommon (most weeks are at least $10 million). The demand for on-chain privacy is growing and RAILGUN is meeting more and more of that demand. This is the good news.
The better news is that contributors are not quite finished yet. The upcoming updates around compliance, gas savings (up to potentially 80% for some DeFi transactions), and Relay Adapt updates for more complex private DeFi like lending and perps are on the way. RAILGUN will become more viable with more fun DeFi capabilities.
