Temperature forecasts a week or so in advance are the new epidemiological modelling. I predict next week will prove this week's out of synch with real temperatures, an inaccurate tool to base any fear on. They will be adjusted downward one day or so before the "record heat" that will in the end fail to materialize. Meanwhile actual records of maximum temperatures in many locations are becoming more & more difficult to find online..

SOLAR INERTIAL MOTION:
NEWTON (1687) showed that the sun is engaged in continual motion around the centre of mass of the solar system (i.e. the barycentre) as a result of the gravitational force exerted by the planets, especially Jupiter and Saturn. He came to this conclusion analytically (not by observation) by working through the consequences of his law of gravitation. The sun is in free-fall around the barycentre as a result of planetary gravitational force. The sun orbits the barycentre inside a circular area which itself is just over two solar diameters in diameter. This might be negligible for the solar system but it is highly significant in relation to the size and nature of the sun. Amongst other things, the sun may be travelling through its own electromagnetic fields during various stages of its journey. Unlike planetary orbits around the barycentre, the sun’s orbit around the barycentre differs greatly from orbit to orbit.
👍43🔥8🤣4❤1🤡1😭1
The general form of the sun’s barycentric orbit is an epitrochoid, a big circle continuous with a little ring nestling asymmetrically inside it. At one phase, the orbit is nearly circular, almost two solar diameters in diameter. At another phase, the Sun is impelled on a backward, or retrograde, journey in which it undergoes a tight loop-the-loop, crossing over its own path in a loop that is less than one solar radius. The epitrochoid’s asymmetric ring arises from the sun undergoing the retrograde loop-the-loop. No alignment of the planets in relation to the Sun repeats itself exactly, because the solar system is chaotic, containing intrinsic randomness. As a result, no two epitrochoid-shaped solar orbits are the same.

Nevertheless, they can be classified into eight distinctive patterns, each of about 179 years’ duration, which is also the time taken for the planets to occupy approximately the same positions again relative to each other and the sun. In this time the sun completes about nine orbits, or one planetary cycle.

Left plot: the example of SIM (Solar Inertial Motion) trajectories of the Sun about the barycenter calculated from 1950 until 2100. Right plot: the cone of expanding SIM orbits of the Sun with the top showing 2D orbit projections similar to the left plot. Here there are three complete SIM orbits of the Sun, each of which takes about 179 years. Each solar orbit consists of about eight, 22-year solar cycles. The total time span is, therefore, three 179-year solar cycles, or about 600 years.

First it was Covid – now we’re being scared into submission over the weather

There’s no denying it’s hot in Europe, but it feels like sunshine is being weaponised in a bid to get us to adjust our ways to hit net zero

"We shall fight the Nudgers on the beaches. We shall fight in the seas and swimming pools. We shall revel in the heat and defend our fortnight in the sun. We shall never surrender our minds to them, for our minds are ours and ours alone." Allison Pearson

'The Sun Set Off 4,000 Sea Mines During the Vietnam War'

Only now do scientists fully understand just how strong a 1972 solar storm was.

"ON AUGUST 4, 1972, NEAR the North Vietnamese port of Hai Phong, dozens of mines hiding in the waters exploded in little more than an instant. American troops had laced the seas bordering North Vietnam with thousands of mines, lying in wait for ships to pass by. But in this case, no ships had set them off.

Up and down the coast, in the first few weeks of that August, this mysterious phenomenon repeated itself, until, according to one estimate, 4,000 destructor mines had detonated, as if ghost ships had been trawling the waters and sweeping them for danger.

There was an invisible force that was setting off the mines, though, and it had originated close to 93 million miles away.

Early that month, the sun had produced a series of fierce flares, close to four orders of magnitude more powerful than a typical solar flare. During the peak of a solar cycle, the concentrations of magnetic energy will erupt from the sun and wash towards Earth. These were so strong that they saturated particle detectors used to measure such events and sent magnetometers off the scale. Bright auroras appeared over the United States and Europe, as far south as Spain

The mines that United States forces had dropped outside of the Vietnamese ports had magnetic triggers—sensors would measure the amplitude, polarity, or gradient of magnetic fields, waiting for an iron-heavy ship to pass by, tweaking the field and triggering the bomb. When the solar flares distorted the magnetic field of the Earth, the mines reacted. They blew."
