Palestine Action supporters organise terror ban protest on foreign website

"A protest supporting Palestine Action, the campaign group proscribed in Britain as a terror organisation, is being organised on a US website.

At least 500 demonstrators are planning to gather on August 9 in central London to hold signs saying: “I oppose genocide, I support Palestine Action.”

The Metropolitan Police has warned the protesters to “expect to be arrested”.

The demonstration has been organised by Defend Our Juries, which is leading a campaign to reverse Palestine Action’s proscription, under which hundreds have already been arrested.

It is using the United States-based website Action Network to tell would-be protesters to express support for the group in such large numbers that the police cannot arrest all of them."

Britannia: Millionaire 'Asylum King' hotel tycoon rakes in the cash

"The millionaire hotel tycoon dubbed the ‘Asylum King’ is still raking in the cash despite his Britannia chain being ranked the worst in the UK.
Alex Langsam founded Britannia Hotels in 1976 after opening his first site in Manchester.
Langsam remains the company’s chief executive and largest shareholder while his empire also extends to budget holiday camp chain, Pontins.
That empire – now operates more than 60 sites across the UK – has become well known in recent years for being the previous government’s go-to hotel chain for housing asylum seekers, and being rated the worst in the UK for more than a decade.
Now, new accounts filed late for Britannia Hotels with Companies House have revealed sales at the chain increased from £154.7m to £162.4m in the 12 months to 31 March, 2024.

Trump airstrike tally matches Biden’s four-year total – in just five months

"Donald Trump has overseen nearly as many air strikes in the first five months of his second term as Joe Biden launched in his entire presidency.
The US president’s onslaughts on Houthi militants in Yemen and jihadists in Somalia have been more ferocious than Mr Biden’s, and he has ordered strikes on Iraq, Syria and most recently, Iran.
After campaigning on a pledge to end American involvement in military conflicts, he has sharply escalated the country’s air campaigns, according to the data from Acled (Armed Conflict Location and Event Data), which maps conflicts.
