FREUD ON FEAR OF CLIMATE CHANGE

Sigmund Freud viewed nature and the forces of weather as terrifying manifestations of human helplessness and weakness, which civilization attempts to defend against but can never fully conquer. 

Fear of Nature: Freud argued that natural forces like earthquakes, storms, and floods remind humans of their fundamental vulnerability, as these elements "mock at all human control" and cannot be entirely subjected by man. 

Religious Buffer: In The Future of an Illusion (1927), he posited that religious belief serves as a psychological buffer specifically against humanity's "fear of nature," providing a sense of security that science alone cannot yet guarantee.

Those who suffer from climate anxiety, or climate derangement syndrome are deeply anxious individuals, therefore logic & reason will never work with them. What they are seeking is to dominate a side of themselves that they reject: namely the acceptance of how small & powerless they really are in the vast cosmos. Blaming others for a fictional "climate emergency" serves that psychic purpose of relieving their own existential anxiety, nothing more.
