Ukraine's Ministry of Economy signed a Memorandum with American investment company BlackRock

"The Ministry of Economy of Ukraine and BlackRock, the world’s largest investment company, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding agreeing on a framework for consultative assistance in developing a special platform to attract private capital for the recovery and support of Ukraine’s economy.
The platform will focus on mobilizing investment in key sectors of Ukrainian economy, while taking into account the reconstruction needs resulting from the full-scale russian invasion.
In particular, the agreement signed on November 10, 2022 in Washington, DC, provides that BlackRock’s Financial Markets Advisory will consult the Ministry of Economy on creation of a roadmap for the implementation of an investment platform, which will primarily attract private capital. This includes the structure of the platform, its mandate and governance.
Thus, the Memorandum formalizes the preliminary discussion of opportunities for attracting public and private investment in Ukraine, which took place in September between President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Chairman and CEO of BlackRock Larry Fink."

I know these venture capital firms in Boston. It’s the most dense location of VCs anywhere and colocated with numerous biotechs, several of which are my former clients as a consultant.
(For avoidance of doubt, I didn’t pitch to Flagship and Moderna wasn’t ever a client, but I know this environment reasonably well for a Brit).
The evolution of chunks of private capital, often raised from moderately wealthy families, much richer than me, but not the super rich, necessarily, and managed by real subject matter experts, reviewing & investing very selectively in start ups & young companies, has I think been a good development. It’s a consequence of big companies choosing to downsize and essentially to outsource new drug R&D. This is precisely the path I followed after Pfizer UK closed its former base in Kent. I pitched a lot of funds in Boston & elsewhere in the US& mainland Europe.
But unfortunately there looks to be “dark capital” and shrouded military controlled companies nestling among the more upright entities. Accordingly, having been fired by my last clients in summer 2020, I wouldn’t offer my services to the sector again (not that any commissions are likely!).

This is worth a read, in my opinion. While I’m less secure about the “how”, I do share the author’s optimism that, in due course, ordinary humans will re-emerge to run their own affairs. I suppose I should acknowledge that these people will by definition be extraordinary. I believe they are among us & that very many of them don’t even know it yet.
If I had to place a bet, the leaders of tomorrow will be, today, young parents. Consider the motivation for self preservation, given their responsibilities, and an implacable determination to protect their children and to strain sinews to create a better future for them.
Meanwhile, please talk about the prospect of fake nuclear war to terrify & shut down what’s left of the resilience of our societies.
Will that happen? I don’t know but I’ll lay a bet that it’s one of the several options the perpetrators are mulling over. Fake pandemic #2 is a strong bet & the perpetrators will be well aware of the pros & cons. Nothing will be as terrifying as “airborne Ebola” or similar nonsense. And it will be nonsense. A high percentage of the population will just follow the mass medias instructions. A minority, like all of our community here, will know it’s fake.
So it’ll turn on the folk in the middle. Nobody reliably knows to what extent they’ve woken, silently. Also, if awake, what will they choose to do?
